  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fender eliminator TE449

Rider1

Husqvarna
A Class
Just purchased the bike a few days ago and I'm deep into the farkle "honeymoon" :) So...

Anyone have a good source/s for a fender eliminator for the '11 TE449? I still want to mount the license plate and use almost flush mounted turn signals.

Thanks,
Dave

Just slide the stock one off and there is a little fender for the plate right there.
Thanks, I saw that and I guess the tailight would act as a license plate light so to speak and then use some small led turn signals somehow (maybe with adhesive) attached to the very small sides of the remaining fender area.

How's progress on radiator guards and skid plate for our bike's coming? Any estimate on available date and pricing? Is the skid plate going to be aluminum or...?

Dave

Has anyone come out w a good fender eliminator / tidy tail kit?

Check out DRC products: http://www.wheelingcyclesupply.com/shop/36/24/index.shtml

I used their tail light and flashers on my KLX and now on my TE310. I used:

Edge2 Universal Tail Light Holder Kit w/red lense
LED Flasher type 601 w/smoke lense front and rear

The front flashers are a direct bolt on and I installed the rears in the side of the tail light holder. I used the aluminum brace under the fender to hold the tail light holder. It looks really clean. I'll try and post a pic when I get home.

I bought a DRC tail light ONCE!!! Plastic is too brittle only lasted one ride.

Not trying to advocate for them, but they do also have an aluminum bracket as well. My first one was aluminum on the KLX. I used the plastic one on the TE310 figuring it'd be easier to work with.

This looks great - was it a lot of custom work or pretty straight forward?

So is there no one making a bolt on kit that re-uses stock turn signals and is a quick / easy install?

Ideally it would also retain the license plate light since that is a requirement in NY state. But even without that I would be interested in just a nice clean kit with an easy install and no custom fab or ir-reversible mods. Thanks in adance if anyone knows of one...

I just removed and cut the light connector ends off and connected them to the new lights. Drilled a small hole on each side panel to run the wires through and used the self stick adhesive tape (I'm sure I will end up using clear RTV on them if they get knocked off). On the tag light, I drilled two holes in the rear tail part and license plate and ran the tag light under and up through the factory location.

The lights from Cycle Gear were $17.99 plus tax and the tag light was $8 delivered to my door. If you remove the tail light, you can look in and see all of the connections. Really took me about an hour or so, once I figured out where I wanted to mount the turn lights.

I will post a few more pics of it completed.

frontiercat - Thanks for the additional pics. That is a very clean install. I will probably do the same unless someone offers a kit you can use without drilling into the side panels. Looks great.

I just cut off the plateholder part of it and zip tied the plate to the rear fender that way I could keep the rear blinkers mounted.

Anyone know where you can buy replacement aftermarket tail lights? Husky in Oz are asking some silly amount just for the light.
