  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC FE350 Taillight options? Street legal w/ turn signals?

vtrider

Husqvarna
Anyone every messed around with the tail light on the FE350? I just picked up a 2014, and would like to street legal it in Utah so I can ride from my house to the trails ( I like about a mile from the trail head...)

I was looking into options, don't want to put a big clumsy kit on like I had on my old KTM EXC. That thing had big ole blinkers that always got hung up.... I want a "not even noticeable" style kit.

Was thinking something like this. All in one kit that would have tail light / brake light / turn signals and license plate light to replace the stock tail light on the FE350. Super Clean and Tight. They Make these for a mess of bobber / cafe builds... so something should work.

For turn signals up front, I would just put in the blinkers in the cycra hand guards... like this:

A cheap bicycle horn and removable mirror would get me a plate I think... then if I get pulled over by the fuzz I have most of the stuff (can just say the horn fell off or something!)

thoughts or experience on this route?????

I was looking at mine the other day, I think the stock tail light is brake light compatible. There is a 3rd unused wire on the plug. I will say, that all in one unit looks good and would make it so simple to do.

No point in clumsy options or conversions. Look no further than "Sicass racing". They have a full kit to convert the stock FE taillight to a brake light. The stock taillight is already equipped for brake light operation, the bulbs element is already in there. A simple tie wrap on the brake pedal in the down position and removal of one of the 2 masters cylinders bolts to gain a bit of access. With the brake pedal held in the down position, it will allow you to remove the banjo bolt from the rear brake hoses fitting from the rear master cylinder to fit the included replacement banjo bolt/pressure switch. No brake bleeding is even required. Tighten it down with a 14mm line wrench and the harness plugs directly into the taillight harness under the seat. That gives you the brake light.

These kits have all the switches you need and every section of wire harness is direct plug in to the existing harness and works off the stock relay. All direct plug in. You can even keep the pull on off switch for the headlight next to the gauge cluster to make all the lights work or black it all out, with that stock switch. They even make a switch extension for the stock switch so it's easier to get at with gloves on. I've seen them.

You have many options below on what type of turn signals you want and what color of lenses too.

This will definitely get you your plates to make it street legal.

See the info below. Its a direct full on kit. All in one set up.

Does Utah require turn signals? If not, like my state, you can simply add an Enduro engineering rear brake actuator that plugs in under the seat and it allows your existing tail light to function as a brake light then add a 12 dollar license plate holder and be done. You'll need to use hand signals on the street but for 1 mile big whoop. Total cost is under 50 bucks
