  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE350 ride

with no camera it would have been just a helmet hit, I'm getting used to moving my head around to clear the cam from overhead stuff, that was a big branch that got caught up.

I always need to remind myself when I go ride dryer areas that the plants are all not soft and fluffy like here in the west side of the NW.

Mount the cam to the front of your chin protector. Works great. perfect view, does not get hung up on trail crap and is EZer to get your goggles on and off.

Back in the day, I remember the first time we took Mark Blackwell down to Tecate for his first trail ride there. The first time he tried to lean into a manzanita bush thru a turn it cleaned him off his bike, tore his jersey and left him with a pretty good gash. He was WAY more cautious after that!

I rode Clear creek and it has that stuff and we called it rebar as it was about as flexible as rebar. Also rode out of Bolder/Vegas area and found some fluffy "looking" plants that were not.

fluffy I like that thats a good word. Manzanita is a hardwood and not fluffy at all, even though it just looks like a bushy bush, maybe not fluffy like a fern but they can be mistaken as fluffy bushes. They make good catch fencing for get offs though.
some of you may remember this foto I posted a while back.....inside cut into a corner, no crash, impaled by manzanita.

OK now back to the FE350 ride thread.

Cool vid. I really like when you laughed at your buddies misfortune!
One of my first rides ever was in the Piutes and I got a real lesson in manzanita respect that day. I about gave up on riding after that day!

I miss riding down south. Especially in February!

Thanks for the quick report. I'm not in the market for one, but its still nice to hear some positive reports on the new bikes.

we love john but that does not stop us from laughing when he drops it....he later fell ugly, not laughable, into this rock split almost vert drop and endoed....hes ok but his 2014 250XCF-W got some nice new bike gouges. He was a little pissed off from that one......I was right behind ....but had not yet turned on the cam, I only have post crash viddy of that one.

I will be loading the second parts of FE350 led ride sometime this weekend (it never finished loading)
Name drop time--the smooth guy in Thor gear leading on the FE350 is LR himself just in case no-one picked up on that. As seen in many of the new Husky intro fotos posted he is (thankfully) back as a legends rep for the Husky brand under the new Husky regime (smart $ move).

Your 310 sounds really good! Much throatier than my oem exhaust. The oem is obnoxiously loud.
What system are you using ?

sorry y'all this is the FE350 thread by virtue of the FE350 leading the ride and I keep loading viddy of me on my 310.
Also thread named by the fact that I did ride the 350 after my cam battery died and after all the trail riding.
Russ my 310 is very much more torque-y since the ZipTy Racing rebuild and head work, exhaust is a full FMF powerbomb with the S/A-dB cap installed.

Does it still rev and pull as high as the oem exhaust ?

I cant say with 100% certainty, but the thing is way more midrange throaty and has a really good power curve as its set up now. back to FE350!!
