OK folks here's another one of my long posts, You will like this one.

Rocky mountain ATV won't though and I warned them this morning and this afternoon a few times so read this if you have a 2014 or 2015 FE Husky.

I ran into an interesting price discrepancy today at Rocky Mountain ATV. I recently purchased the factory 90 degree banjo type Fuel pump connection from Rocky Mountain for my FE 501 over a month or more ago. It is KTM Factory part #77707988017 and then after that I bought another one for my 4.1 gallon "Acerbis" tank.

I didn't want to fool around with possible leaks while changing fuel pumps from one tank to the next. So I purchased everything between the "Zipty" filter on the bike and the wire connector to power the fuel pump itself so the tank would truly be a direct bolt on. Just 1 screw to mount the tank and snap the filter in and hook up the wire plug. I used the Oediker type pinch clamps to do this instead of the worm drive clamps shown in the identical pictures below of this part to connect the hose. The ZipTy filter I run comes with this type Oediker clamp also as its a FI hose under pressure connection and is the proper way to do this. I just wanted to be able to mount the tank itself along with the complete pump assembly, Seals /gasket kit, Fuel strainer screen for the pump in the bottom of the tank under the pick up and the mounting screws to mount it all up. Done right?

I go to get a spare 90 degree banjo fitting today from them for a buddy of mine with a new Husky to replace his straight fitting and the part number has seemingly changed. It's listed under the "Factory KTM Fuel Pump connection". Even when looking it up for the husky FE 501. So has the price for the same exact part. As you can see below the price from Halls and the price from Rocky Mountain is the same. Here's the kicker since so many people with the fuel injection bikes are doing this same thing either changing the straight down fitting to the banjo or setting up another larger tank like I just did. The point is to get rid of the stock tanks hose that has a s curved in it and is a vulnerable connection that hangs down that can be easily damaged.

So like me. They order the Factory 90 that's shown in the many ads below. They are back ordered at the Husky dealers all over the country. Like the ad says below from Rocky Mountain ATV. at 34.99 that is.

Well they have the part in stock. at $79.69 With the identical part with a"new part number" but as shown now below #147720001 is out of stock for a while. (September).

But you're not going to believe this! They say the KTM part is the same nuber but they changed the last digit in the part number to a 2 from a 1 and it is much higher priced yet isn't the Husqvarna supposed to be the premium brand now and this is the KTM/Husaberg/Husqvarna part listed under all these bikes that fits. But its 79.69 now for the identical part with what was the identical number which only changed on the website since I was on the phone with them 4 or 5 times trying to figure out how they can get away with this clear case of price gouging.

Its the same exact part except for the last digit now on the website. If you want the $34.99 part you have to wait like all the dealers are making people do because they are backordered. They would not honor the parts match guarantee and I told them I had purchased this same part and had the label with the husky part number right on my desk in front of me.

If you want the one they have in stock it's $79.69. The same part lists for the Husky FE 250 or the KTM 250 SXF or the FE 501 or the 500 EXC or XC-F.
But take a look at the ads taken directly off the listings for these specific bikes.

This is ridiculous they couldn't even figure this out themselves and BSd there way into getting my money.

Below is "Halls" Listing and I called "Bills MC Plus" too and they couldn't believe it.

The only break they would give me is tell me the part is in stock but its now $79.69 they spent hours trying to figure this out.


One good thing here I learned is. The Quick connect fittings on the Husky's for removing the gas tank that connects to the "ZipTy" filter or the stock connector coming off the factory hose or the now double priced 90 degree fitting after you get ripped off and have to pay double for it.

Is that they sell both a "Motion Pro" and a "Tusk Racing" quick connectors that looks identical that fits exactly the same according to them "Rocky Mountain" and I checked with "ZipTy" this morning to put them onto this also. ZipTy also sells these factory quick connectors. I didn't ask them for there price but they looked up the technical specifications on the "Motion Pro and "Tusk Racing part themselves and said it's a go, either one looks to fit just like the $49.08 stock one. They come in either white "Motion Pro" Its a 2 part connector for like 19.00. Or the "Tusk racing black 2 part one is only 9.99) with the matching o-ringed fitting that can be attached to any bike and is barbed on both end pieces for this application, or any tank you want to remove with out spilling gas.

The bikes fuel line half of the connectors isn't a filter though at all just the second half of the Quick Connector. Though it is barbed to connect to any bikes hose like the stock connector is that has the tiny Pre filter and just like the stock inlet prefilter on the "ZipTy" filter.

Below is the ad taken directly from halls website whom I called also.

I have never seen such BS in motorcycle parts sales in my life. Especially when these same parts had the identical "new number" this morning for both prices when I called them on it and was online looking at the part itself. I told them to look up my last purchase and you could see what it cost me for the one I put on my stock tank and match the price. They said they would look into it and I called them back 3 more times while driving around today in my work truck to find what they had found out. When I get home its a 2 on the end of the new number when it was a 1 earlier this morning and still is. I guess 1 means its out of stock for now at $34.99 and the new 2 means its "in stock" and we got 5 left in stock for $79.69.

This is BS.

Now here is my bike itself with the fitting and ZipTy fliter and factory quick connector on the stock tank I posted on another thread here a few weeks ago. Compare the parts assembled below on the bike with the parts from the ads above.

Just FYI, suggestion call Joe in parts at GP Motorcycles San Diego 619 233 4762 ( or another actual Husky dealer) and ask him (them) for a price on the fuel banjo fitting.

the 777xxx are the more performance oriented closed course "race" bikes- Husky lists the same part as the SX/XC race Katos engineered to race without some sort of compromise .

PS those clamps are namesake spelled Oetiker clamps
my HS Deutsch teacher was Freulein Oetiker (O umlaut spelled out as oe)

I have the motion pro fuel connector (white) on my older FE501 berg and it leaks. Not a lot but seeps for sure. Not overly happy with it. This seems to be the exact same part marketed under several different names.

for the QD I have 3 words SCD-source control drawing. The OEM parts will be controlled source parts and thus will be the best quality due to everything from engineering specs to law suit potential or cost of recalls and warranty work due to low quality parts. Tusk stuff you can bet are all Chinese copy/knockoff part.sorry Tusk if I'm wrong, its my assumption

I need to go now Im not even a 4T guy---later best of luck with all this fuel line biz.

Is the seepage from where the check valve is in the quick connect? Another words it dribbles a bit even when disconnected on the tank side?
Have you replaced the O-ring on the male ended connector like I just had to do? I got about 20 of them now.. In "Viton" Its an industry#011 if you go with neoprene it's a number #6 . Size is 5/16" ID X 7/16" OD X 1/16" diameter..

I have the Husky Powerparts catalog. The part is the same, the orifice opening in both my banjo fittings is the same as the stock fittings, also the same as the Stock type straight fittings that are included with the Acerbis tank. I checked my FE 501 stock fitting removed from the bike to compare with the "Acerbis" straight fitting that was included with the tank and the hose IDs the same diameter also. If the banjo fitting was any bigger physically on the outlet for the 500s it would have to have a larger stem, a specific pump and a larger hole in the tank as well for just the 500 CC bikes.

I could have called them "Dorman Clamps". Which they are called also but a picture is worth a thousand words sometimes. That's why I included several. Including my own bikes installation to use as an example crimped with the Oetiker/Dorman pinch type clamps being used instead of using the worm drive hose clamps, which there are several names for them also.

Sorry about the misspelling of your "HS Deutsch Teachers name"...I should know better as I do know what "umlaut" means as in the change of a vowel's sound. I had a Hungarian girlfriend in HS myself. She used to write funny. Or so I thought with little dots and hyphens over her letters in the words she wrote to her family in Hungary. That was along time ago.

My last name has been misspelled by everyone most of my life. Don't mind saying it either. I've corrected its spelling for over 55 years. 90+% of the time. It was either spelled "Linder" or "Lidner" when it is actually "Lindner". We dropped the "Von" off the front of the name when coming here in 1880s as it was "Von Lindner" before that. That's "Very German".

My Great Grandfather had a Mercantile store and was the "US Post Master" in Kingston New Mexico in the 1880s and he closed the store in 1893 when the bottom of the market dropped and the price of Silver, mined in Silver City, New Mexico where they still have a working mine today. He moved to the Douglas area in AZ where I live in 1903. He was then promoted to be the "Post Master General".

He always said to my Dad, a picture was worth a thousand words too. Or your life back then, as the "Smith & Wesson" pistol ammunition he sold in his store usually always had a picture of the gun it was intended for right on the box. Along with the written printed cartridge size contained therein, It was like that back then and even before that as most people couldn't read or write, let alone spell.

I got the exact same "KTM factory part number 78107988017" but it was double priced today from Rocky Mountain ATV. It is the same exact part number and label for the 90 degree Factory Fuel Pump Connection. Here is the older previous $34.99 label and the new $79.69 package. Yes I'm calling them. They will have some explaining to do. The one part is in stock (their number 147727002 or was at $79.69. Their out of stock. They told me it was different too.(their number 1477270001 and the $34.99 part is out of stock).

SX/XC tanks are thinner than XC-W/EXC tanks, Part # 78107988017 fits XC-W/EXC tanks and has always sold for $79.69. The inner "projection" on this part is about 5/16 inch compared to about 1/8" on the fitting for the thinner SX/XC tanks (77707988017 / $34.99).

Hope this clears things up. We do have 2 of each in stock today.

Must all be mispriced then as they gave me a full credit after receiving the part. and sending the pictures of the labels from my earlier purchasers for the first 2 and the third one..
The projection to accommodate the tanks thicknesss was the same as the stock removed straight fitting and was the same as the included straight fittings that came with the Acerbis tank. The curved rubber hose alone that's made to fit the straight fitting is 16.00 alone. So the banjo fitting is really a bargain.

The $9.99 quick connect from "Tusk Racing" is the identical piece as the stock one. It is so close that it had to have come out of a duplicate mold. Same thing. 1/4 the price and has the second half included.

I did check with about 6 dealers about this for the set retail pricing.

ZipTy as well whom sells the quick connects. IMS tanks also who sell the specific fitting to mount the pumps in there tanks.

I tried an IMS tank on my 501S a few months ago and they had no idea that the stock tank and their 3.1 gal tank were different thicknesses and had no suggestion about what parts were needed to get it to fit. Pointless anyway since there were a bunch of other "fit" issues.

Somewhere back a ways in the threads people who had purchased the IMS tanks and posted that they had to get the IMS fitting from them. Apparently they didn't come with the tanks but were only about $7.00 if I remember.

Didn't have that IMS tank issue myself so I couldn't actually tell you.

The 4.1 gallon " Acerbis tank" I have was only like 209.00 or so. The pump is 263.00 the fitting come with the tank so the one large retainer cap I can use since I'm running the banjo fitting out connection. I also bought the fuel pre strainer and spare internal line filter (about 55.00) which I probably wont ever need as it's contained in the pump assembly already. Then I got the seal kit (36.00) and screws (7.00) for the back mounting plate where the pumps power supply wire plug hooks up. The "Tusk racing" quick connect was $10.00. All in all it was about 445 .00 to do this had the tech people knew what they were doing though, the strainer and filter I could have done with out and the banjo I should have got elsewhere. It was $80.00 for the 3rd one I have purchased.

To follow up.
The 777 part number is the shorter fitting that fits the Acerbis tank and the 79.99, 781 part number in the bag pictured fit my buddies 14' 450 XC-W just fine. The stock Husky tank uses the longer 781 part number also. But I bought it the first time around for 39.99 for my stock thick tank from Rocky Mountain and they didn't know the difference. I got that straightened out now with them.

I went ahead and sent back the un-needed "Fuel pump filter strainer and inline filter and clamps" as well as the "seal kit" and "screws" which I didn't need and got a full refund from Rocky Mountain ATV. I didn't need these items they said I would need when I mounted the pump assembly in my 4.1 Gallon "Acerbis" tank. One screw mounts the tank and then justdo the quick connect to the "ZipTy" filter and connect the wire plug. Only takes a few minutes to change.

"Rocky Mountain's" prices seem to go up and down daily. I Just bought a full set of "Acerbis Black plastics for the FE 501 for a $104.00 bucks and a full set of Factory Style Enduro graphics for them $119.00. It should change the look of the bike completely.

Got a pair of White, with black trimmed front shrouds to apply a pair of front shroud "ZipTy" graphics, and the shrouds were "Acerbic OEM" for $38.00 a pair at "Rocky Mountain". A few days later they are $63.00. A pair of blue side airbox side panels were only $14.00 a piece and they are "Acerbis" OEM side panels. I got them today and they are bagged in the OEM KTM/Husaberg/Husqvarna packaging. Spare plastics are good where I ride.

I had a mesquite branch get ahold of my left shroud and it split at the molded seam where the yellow is molded in 2 steps against the white just below the yellow insert. It split and separated it back about 5 inches. I had leaves still in the end of the split when I took it off. I have repaired it already. Can't hardly tell it was glued with Crazy glue gel in the split and then I applied Gorilla glue to the rear side to stiffen it up. I put a pair of small stickers over it on the outside. I will keep running it in my thick brush rides. Its no big deal.

The plastics get scuffed up pretty badly here but it's going to happen. The spare black trimmed white side radiator shrouds are molded in 2 steps also so this is IMHO a weak point. On the other hand. The "Acerbis solid black side panels" are molded in one solid step so these should not allow the shrouds to tear like the 2 step, 2 tone molded stock style ones. I did have this happen in some of the thickest brush. Thanks to my 7602 radiator braces it didn't even scratch the anodizing on them let alone damage anything else just the plastic shroud on the bike split.

I'll post some pics with the black plastics installed on the 501 in a few weeks or when ever I get around to mounting them and installing the graphic kit.
