  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Fc250 as a lightweight trail bike only?

Hey guys, have a 500 exc I just love and have it decked out as my "dirt bike" but the type of singletrack I ride 6 months out of the year is just way to much for it. I need something that's just extremely lightweight. Something I can bang up in the extreme tight stuff only. I was originally thinking of getting a street bike of some sorts as an errand type bike. And my 500 would be the dirt bike. Had like 5k-6 saved up. Recently rode some just gnarly stuff and was just dying on the 500. Now re thinking all this. Maybe change tires on 500 to be more duel sportish. Along with gearing. Already have renazco seat on it. And buy a fc 250 for st only. Reason an fc 250 is there's like 3 within 100 miles of me on sale now for under 5k. One is a 2015 demo for $4999. One is a low hours decked out 2015 for 4500. There's also like a 2016 for $6500. I am not overly worri d about power as like I said it would be all super tight stuff. I assume I would need to get spark arresttor. Maybe change gearing etc. I just know nothing about these fc250's ....like why are there so many of them available and cheap. That a fluke or they just only good for mx or?

I haven't actually watched this yet, but might be relevant
Around here, to be legal in the trails, you need a headlight, taillight and spark arrestor.

Do you want to stay in the land of 4 strokes? If not, this seems too good for you to pass up:

Saw that. Crazy good deal. It really pays to buy used this time of year. This is first time ever i had cash this time of year. Friend had a good point. He said pretty much only people selling dirt bikes this time of year are selling because they need money. He said he always waits till a week following christmas and low balls people. He said youd be amazed what deals you get

I was able to pick up my 2015 te 250 with 80 miles on it in September for 5k.
Having cash ready for the right deal pays off.
Already put almost 1300 miles on it.
I have never been a 2 stroke guy, coming from a txc 310 and a te 310 before this.
But honestly it's been great

People also either don't want to store for the winter, or are already trading up.

Alberta, Canada, in any public land use area. Private land (of which there is very little in southern Alberta), run whatever.

Is that an AB thing? I ask because I've seen a lot of people in BC without lights.
