• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fall / Winter riding in the NW...

Nice. A super durable do it all bike.

Yeah, we hope so. The spark plug cap kept cutting out on him last Saturday on his first ride on it. If it wasn't in the exact right spot it wouldn't start. Pretty frustrating, but Bill's got another one on the way right now so it should be good to go soon :)

He's 6' tall and says the Husky fits him a lot better than the GG's but he still likes how the GG's turn better. It'll probably be different after he gets it all dialed in the way he likes it.

Throw away the stock plug cap and replace it with a NGK. I don't know why Husky keeps using them when they are a known source of problems.

I read this over and over yet have NEVER had an issue with it. :excuseme:

Maybe you got a good one? Eric's plug cap is, indeed, a piece of non-functioning crap. He kept muttering "90%" under his breath in between the swear words. Not a good start. I gently reminded him he still has $3000 remaining in the "bike purchase" bank with which to purchase a fully-functioning plug cap :)

Also, cut and flip the peg 'spacer' if Bill didnt already do it to get a bit more leg room. I notice on my 300 that the steering is sensitive to suspension setup. First I got the rear where I liked it and then ended up moving the forks down 1 line to make it steer comfortably. Each line on the forks made a noticeable difference on a hard semi-fast track (Eddieville).

Yeah, I would imagine that stuff will make a big difference once he gets to it. He basically just put handguards, skidplate and spark arrester on, softened up all the clickers and rode it as it came. Eric is a tweaker when it comes to set-up and I'm sure he'll spend zillions of hours on it once he gets started on it

Kelly,

I have two new plug caps sitting in my box for the last 5 years because of all the horror stories about the stock one. Haven't touched one yet. :excuseme:

Cool pics and I want to ride there. I promise to follow you religously. ;)
