  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hi guys, my 09 te450 is running like a 125 2stroke at the moment, has no bottom end and sounds like its running rich. when i first turn the key on the speedo displays E41e and then "fail" for a few seconds, does anyone know what this means??

Thanks older husky rider, you are a legend! Can i email you a beer?

Sorry for your trouble.

I don't know much about "fail" codes or which codes are normal or which indicate a problem- I don't have the stock speedo.

In the link that OldHuskyRider attached: the original poster did have a fail code simular to what you did E41e fail- and it would stay on the speedo after the bike ran...NOT just cycling through. He found that the Power up plug (resistor) failed- replaced it and no longer had the issue. NOT to send you on a wild goose chase... but following along and reading... For all I know- that is a normal code on the Speedo- I never paid attention enough to know what was normal when I had the stock speedo- at that point it could be just a basic problem unrelated to the EFI....

You can test your old and new Coolant temp sensors with an Ohm Meter to see if either are bad-

If you are frustrated to the point your above post suggests- My suggestion would be to take it to a dealer or a good friend and have it hooked up to Ibeat and let them diagnose. Ibeat will make it easier.

I guess this is the part of his post that I was focusing on, the running rich thing, hence the advice on the temp sensor. I'd be pulling the plug and see if its carbon/gas fouled right now, that its not starting.

You know after all that whinging, crying and wallowing in self pity it turns out this whole drama was those three fuses next to the battery (2 blue ones and 1 yellow). yes i know im an idiot

Cracked or blown? Seen a few grumbles re cracked ones, have replaced all of mine. Call it paranoid..

glad you found the problem. If it was not the fuses, it may have required tuning with the husky ibeat software. When the o2 sensor is removed and the resistor plug installed, the bikes do require some adjustment. Unfortunatly, only dealers have the tool. You can order it for about $600-700 i believe, but all you get is a CD and a wire!!!

Ive had the same code e41e on my 2014 te 511 it turned out to be my 10 amp fuse the red one left of the speedo what caused it to blow out was my two wires going to the turn signal relay touched I fixed that by putting hot glue so that they would be insulated no more shorting
