  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Extra fuel range for your 449/511

I made a rack for my 449 and I also use a backpack.
The hardest thing making the rack was the mounting system. Whew! it took longer to build the frame mounts than it took to make my skidplate and rack. but in the end it looks clean. Now I just bought the 2012 version of the rear fender and will have to make new mounts to work with that.
I am also working on making a spare tank that will mount on the opposite side of the silencer.

Pics?

I seem to remember good enduro bikes having a tool kit back there like my old IT. I think I'd rather have a rack that's more versatile than a strap on tank. I guess the nomad tank is cool but for the price I will continue to explore other options for extra miles of smiles.

I like the tank. It would give me the range I sorely need without having to carry it on my back. I also like the idea of a simple rack that I could strap a fuel cell onto, or anything else as needs be.

So... Hey, California guys!!! Help us ALL out here, please. The Nomadic Racks guy will make someone a rack for FREE, if they volunteer to let him use their bike to fab up the prototype. I'm not gonna' do it 'cause I'm just too far away, but one of you CA guys could, and it would do us all a big favor.

Here's the site: nomadic-racks.com

Someone. Call him. Please.

This tank from Safari is 3.2 gallons which gives you a total of 5.7 gallons combined with the stock tank.

You left out the important parts, $766.00 USD and its not ready to go, you need to buy another kit and cut up your seat.

Its a nice tank but they are adapting a custom Dakar setup for general market use. Its not ready for the general market, I wish they would devote the R&D to make one for us.
