  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Extra fuel range for your 449/511

IMAG0156 (3).jpgIMAG0156 (3).jpgIMAG0157 (3).jpgIMAG0161 (3).jpgIMAG0164 (3).jpg Ok, its here. It came about one week after I ordered it so thats dang fast. Its very well made, very thick plastic and I got the clear one. Black would be better in hindsight.
Mounting is a breeze but you have to take your time and make dam sure you want the mount where you put it, Only after mounting the tank mount did I relize I would have to come up with plan B for my flush mounted blinkers, no big deal but could be if I had mounted those fist instead of the tank. It goes on and off in about 60 seconds flat, good stuff. It is secure even though it looks kind of hokey with the bungies. The bracket stays when your not using the tank. It is low enough that it should be no problem if you scoot that far back, it sits below the main tank cap actually.
It does need a clamp for the connection to the main tank, but just a spring type will work. (stock clamp is not big enough)

(Yes, that is whats left of my New Klim Dakar pants on the pipe, stupid thing!)

No, they go over premolded runs in the tank itself, only drilling is for the funny looking Y bracket. Just a single hole. Straps go over tank and hook just forward of the brake light assembly.

Seems like it should be an Austrailian.

The thing looks pretty good.

;)
I had a 5 litre one on the back of my RMX for when I did the long rides and it held up alright. It had two fastening option #1 rubber straps #2 bolt on, I use the second option and had no probs. Even when I lost the cap for the tank he sent me a new one no cost

That tank is pretty cool ! Might be able to run Velcro strips between the fender and tank might add some mounting strength. I have the industrial 2" Velcro , is really strong.

The tank bottom is lined with rubber foam material, its not going anywhere.

So I contacted these guys, seem really nice and quick to respond (good stuff) he is trying to get me to be the US importer for these but would be to much cash outlay (he wants me to carry the whole line) and not my core biz plus all my money is wrapped up in inventory right now. How much interest is there for this stuff? Thats hard for me to judge.

I think McKay might ride Dusy Ershim in august and since he is a notch above begining trail rider might be a good test for the tank ..... He should have many falls ! Ha ha I havn't seen his whole line but I am sure if the price is right on the tanks you will sell them.... $150 to the door !

I put a small rack on the tail to do exactly what they designed. My current solution is not as clean or easy to uses as their design. I like their idea for dual sport runs. Low Profile easy fill. Question, can it be removed easy when the tank is not needed?
Would I buy one? Yes I would try one for the 511.
I would probably not buy one for the 310 since this has an oversize tank.
Their external tank solution for Bikes with oversize tank options could be a hard to sell!

Has anyone called Clark ? They could make those...

Don't get me started. I like Clarke products a lot and they are just south of me. Offered them many bikes to build from and the answer is always no. Had a pre-production 08 TXC510, first one in the country in my hands and offered it to them... nope. Roto molds are very time consuming and expensive to build and they said husky does not sell enough bikes to make it worth it. Bills has offered them several bikes and even took them some i think but never seem to get the husky stuff done. I do understand spending your development money on KTM Honda and Yamaha as they sell many time more product.

Goes on in sixty seconds, can be removed in half the time. It really is a nice tank and the profile is great. Id get black if I was buying another.
Their application line is pretty big, Kelly, I feel your pain.
