As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
If I installed that same exhaust on my 2013 TR would there be any Mapping problems that you are aware of ?
Just giving the heads up on changing the exhaust to a straight through system, the Terra won't compensate and the bike will run way too lean and won't idle. Being in Oz I have been told by the local dealer that Huski aren't releasing a fuel map to address the problem. I have ordered a booster plug, and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival as I have a Terra that I basically can't ride for fear of doing engine damage while it is running too lean. Tread carefully, will post result of booster plug.If I installed that same exhaust on my 2013 TR would there be any Mapping problems that you are aware of ?
I contacted a few maufacturers here in California and they replied:
Big Gun...
"Thank you for your inquiry and considering us to develop an exhaust for this model. At this time, we are currently working on a handful of projects that wouldn’t allow us to take this on."
Two Brothers Racing...
"At this time we have not added the TR650 to our R&D list for this season, ill bring your bike up with our R&D guys and see what they say. "
FMF...
"Thank you for your email and interest in a FMF exhaust. We are a dynamic company and we are always looking for new bikes that we can make exhaust systems for. We will keep your information and bike in mind if a bike is needed for testing and fitment with a FMF exhaust. For any further questions please contact us at the number below or via email."
I haven't heard back from Vance&Hines or LeoVince yet.
I wouldn't buy a booster plug. It wont fix the problem. After reading boosters site, the plug adds fuel in a linear fashion all across the rev range. When you do substantial exhaust change, you will be lean in some portions and rich in others and it sure heck wont be a 2 or 3% deviance.Just giving the heads up on changing the exhaust to a straight through system, the Terra won't compensate and the bike will run way too lean and won't idle. Im going to wait till Power Commander build an programable unit and a exhaust company builds a lighter pipe that makes more HP than the stock boat anchor. I have time on my site as its -14C outside.
Cheers
Dynojet is using my TR to develop a Powercommander for our bikes. I will post when they are done with my bike and the difference it made.
Yep, was very easy with a pair of snap ring pliers to get the arrestors out and then a pair of needle nose to coax the packing out of the end of the muffler. I highly suggest wearing latex gloves and tight cuffed long sleeve shirt as I was itching after two showers. Made a nicer note and did not seem to hurt performance one bit, by the butt dyno.Has anyone removed the spark arrestors, and removed the internal baffling on the stock pipes yet? Should help it breathe a bit better?
