  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ever brake the starter button?

I'm at cow mt in California and while riding a near vertical trail I fell over like expected...haha and some how broke the pin going into the switch flush. Damn it, this is the first time I had to kick start the bike since buying in may this year. Now I can't piss off my buddy and brother I am with who have kicker only bikes. At least it start easily..

it seems i break them frequently, starting to think i should keep a spare in my trail pack! I must hit them with my chest guard or something when i wreck, never feel it, but taken out two on my WR and one on my TXC in the past two seasons.

My starter button was broken from a ride demo, i had a nice stick stuck in between my cables to stick into the broken off button it worked. Heres the viddy of it in action. PS the starter button is the same type as the kill button, plug may be different (mine was) so you may need to splice it onto the other harness.

I got tired of kicking and grabbed a stick too..the electric start and rekluse have made me a lazy rider..haha

Hey guys, I broke my button. I was quoted $70 AUD for a new OEM start button and almost did a little vomit in my mouth.
Is there a cheaper button available?
Maybe something that can splice to the existing connection...?

Fyi, I had a zipty hanging off my bars with the end sharpened up to poke into the broken button... (stick solution evolved :D)
It worked for a good while but now my button is getting stuck ON and thats not good.
Time to replace :(
