  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Engine shuts off

What's the deal with the EFI bikes shutting off when the throttle closes quickly. Is this what you call "Flame Out"? It usually happens going down a straight at high rpm's then as you approach a sharp turn and close the throttle all the way it shuts off. It does not happen all the time. Is there a fix for it. I tried adjusting the fuel settings but it still happens. Will adjusting the throttle plate stop help?

Thanks Jeff

Have you checked for the slipping fuel pump problem? How much fuel can you put in it if/when it runs out of gas? Does it ever "shut off" like this when the fuel tank is full?

The reason I'm asking is that mine would die during hard braking when at half tank or less and the slipping fuel pump problem had not yet been fixed. (Search for "slipping fuel pump" if you don't know what this is.)

What bike? Is the power-up kit installed? How many miles or hours on it? Once my '08 SMR510 was broken in and the fuel pump problem fixed, it no longer stalls ever except for operator error.

What year & model? I had an '08 TE 250 that did that a few times during break-in. I increased my idle to 1900 and it went away. After after about 10 hours break-in, I put the idle back to specs and it never happened again.

310

It's a 310 with 600 miles on it. It pops as it shuts off. Like the air is cut off to the engine. I have the idle set between 1650 and 1700 rpm's.

Try 1900 and see if that helps.

yea my 09 TE250 did it to me first day i had it....couldnt even get out of my townhouse complex.

I came inside...searched this forum and bumped the idle up.....road around the block at high RPM...never had an issue rest of the couple laps around the block when coming to a stop at a stop sign/light.

as Krieg said...try 1900 for break in and then move it down later.
