  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Engine Pinging

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Now the Wr360 is running close to perfect for my rising, l've been hearing the dreaded engine ping at higher speeds at or near constant WOT on 4-5-6 gears - sign of too lean at the main jet/clip height or petrol type (use 91 octane).
Previously use to add some octane booster but since l've had carb problems, I've never encountered this issue with this bike until now that l have faith the thing doesn't foul plugs.

Octane or clip height/main jet?

Jay

what main you got in what carb.
i would say you should be around a 175 main on a keihin 38mm.

Hmmm...I'll check but l think l may have a 170 or 172 in there ATM, l'll try premium (not shell) juice and then do a main jet swap on the trail and see what effect that does.

I would guess you need a 175-182 for wide open throttle for extended periods. You could also run a blend of race gas and premuim. If it is still an issue you can slightly retard you timing.

Ditto on the race gas mix.

My 144 hauls with 1/3 powermist.

My EG pump gas motor needs it for some reason.

I guess you coulg try a thicker bas gasket too.

I use a std BR8ES, did put a thinner base gasket but this is the first time in many years that l've been able to run foul plug free in years so l think it's time to inspect the 1/2 to WOT throttle range...damn that's going to be such a hard job convincing myself to go for a ride:D
