  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

i picked up a set of these from Tasky's today.

but in front and above the right radiator there is a regulator bolted to the frame and therfore the brace wont fit between the frame and the radiator :banghead:

Any clues here? I cant be the only TE owner that's purchased these.. Looks like the left side will be fine.

Also am wondering if I can just unmount the regulator and zip tye it somewhere else inline or does that need to be firmly mounted to the frame like it is?

Any help would be appreciated!
 
Can you send me a pic of the regulator and or get your bike into us. Do you have a Euro 3 model TE?
I am sure we can make it work.

thanks.. been thinking about that.. easier said then done.. wires are only a few inches long running to it, and theres no good 'cool' way to mount it. It's apparently up there for a reason, with fins and all I suspect they mean for it to get some air flow.. :excuseme:

I dont fancy drilling into my frame for a new mount for it, just to put on some $100 rad braces.. :banghead:

Kind of shocked that the directions dont mention this, wondering if these were ever really tested on a husky :excuseme: Suppose I should have done the research first. Now that I have parts all over the shop, no way I can return them and go with a different type. :doh:

Cut and splice in another few inches of wire. Whatever length you need to be able to reposition or relocate it to somewhere it will fit.
 
From the pics it almost looks like you could turn the regulater clockwise and be good- but I am sure its not that simple... It also looks like you could trim the guard where the regulater is with a grinder and it would work... If NOT, I would redrill top two holes lower for the Bolts and supports of the braces - looks like you only need a half inch or so- and it looks like you have room for that. Measure before cutting ofcourse!
If you are frustrated, send them back and let them know for sure- maybe they can streer you in the right direction or make sure the next guy with an 07' knows they aren't a perfect bolt on for 2007- on my 09 the regulator is near the coil under the tank- maybe it was overlooked that it was near the stearing head in 07' by EE
 
thanks for all the advice.. all suggestions are great, although if you think about this.. I bought a set of radiator braces that are marked to fit my bike.. do i really need to start hacking wires, relacting important electrical equipment, etc?

Just talked to Gary at EE, great fella by the way, and he too is stumped over this..

If i didnt tear up the package already :banghead:, I'd return them likely and start at ground zero again.

clockwise doesnt work as the fins go under the thottle cables.. dont fancy my throttle cables getting run over those fins... :)

yep, found a place that theoretically it would fit, but drilling my frame to get the good ground you spoke of earlier concerns me.. again, not to beat the horse, but kind of bummed and dont want to be drilling into my frame to remount this regulator just to install some 'bike specific' Radiator Braces..

Kelly, thanks for the screw for my kickstand and fork bleeders :thumbsup:, got here in 2 days.. maybe should have looked at your rad protection first huh :lol:
 
My euro 07 has the regulator mounted to the right side subframe. That sux...sorry about the trouble.

instead of drilling the frame run a good wire from the unit to the original frame bolt. :thumbsup:

DUDE.. your a freaking genius.. :notworthy: I'll attempt that.. dont think the thing will start bitching if it gets hot do you? Suspect behind the radiator above the motor itll get a bit warmer than it did before..

They do not like heat, hence the fins but then again many are mounted there in by the coil.
 
notch the radiator brace with a file or dremel from the pics it looks like it might work. easy fix just my 2ct

thought about that, but notching it enough to clear the regulator would make the brace about 1mm thick at most at the top where the rod connects.. kind of weak IMO, which defeats their intended purpose.

I've just buttoned it all back up, it's a wash.. :banghead: I'll start looking for alternatives.. unfortunately where I ride these are mandatory, as I bent the tabs on my radiator just the other day :doh:
 
bagged it..anyone want it? Paid 100 bucks or something for it yesterday.. disappointed with my shopping trip... got some black skidplate from Tasky's yesterday as well.. looks like the bolts would line up if I bent the shit out of the plate.. like about an inch or more.. and had longer bolts.. the bolts they gave me were about 1/4 inch or more too short.. and now that's scratched as hell trying to get it on.. :banghead:

Im out about 250 bucks for stuff that doesnt fit or work on my bike.. :doh:

So far this Husky experiment isnt panning out for me, riding KTM's for years i've never had such issues in my life.. buy shit.. it bolts on.. tada..may end up sniffing around the orange playground again after this..

Thanks to all for the help and suggestions.. I'm not beyond hacking up a bike, but bummed as all get up that I HAVE to, just to make 'bolt on' accesorries fit..
 
You sound a bit frustrated. Understandable.


First of all, Husqvarna tends to make subtle changes between years, and occasionally during the same model year. Also the aftermarket companies tend to be on the smaller end of the spectrum and despite their best efforts cannot do things the same as the larger companies.


However Enduro Engineering, and Taskys reputation is beyond reproach, at least to me. If it were me I'd work things out off line with them.

Oh yeah.. definately frustrated.. tend to vent online has I'm taking a break from the bike, bad form thats for sure:thumbsdown:, my apologies..

Jeff Tasky is top notch.. not bitching about him or EE at all.. just frustrated.. you know how it is.. go spend some $ on some stuff for your bike.. get home.. get your bike all tore down.. :doh: stuff dont work.. hmm.. put the bike back together so I can ride (I ride 5 days out of the week) or leave it apart, take the 2 hour round trip to Everett, and hope I can pull it off round 2?.. :banghead:


Called Jeff, man that guy is above reproach in my book.. for sure.. more than willing to put these on for me.

His thought was that at the factory they may have misdrilled the frame on my bike by 1/8" or so.. which would cause this.. seems totally reasonable to me, since him and Gary at EE both have never seen this before..


ps.. Skidplate works.. just had to use more muscles and a jack :thumbsup:
