  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Enduro setup for SMR511, 2011

C Class
I'm planning on getting a set of Enduro wheels for my smr511. Since I'm not the tallest person (5'7") and already am at a maximum comfortable height with the supermoto setup, I'm wondering what rim size, suspension settings and seat modifications would be best for me?

I've been riding my SMR on dirt and single track with the motard wheels. Mud and loose sand are the only things that will cause you trouble. I would suggest you try it before going to all tje expense of buying a wheel converrsion.

Thank you for the tip Suputin. Are you using the stock (pirelli diabolos) or did you change to something different?

Last time I ran block pattern DOT rains but we have used all kinds of stuff. Time before that was on Michelin Pilot 1's which are nearly slicks. As long as it is dry and reasonably hard packed you will be shocked at how much traction the 17's have. We went up some steep, knarly single track no problem.

The stock tyres on the SMR are utter rubbish, even on tarmac. Ditch them as soon as possible!

Unless you are racing or doing track days, there is nothing wrong with the OEM tires for street riding. I have taken them all kinds of places most people would never even think of and they have been fine. Why ditch a perfectly good set of tires for no reason? Get a few thousand miles out of them when you can. It doesn't cost anything.
