• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Emotional love affair starting with Sherco!

Some people like me get on a kick, obsession is maybe more accurate in my wife's eyes but that's beside the point.
The more I read about the Sherco, in particular the 300 two stroke, the more I find myself "needing" one. Its a disease I know, but when I hear comparisons to how the Sherco feels like an x-light husky with a modern refined KTM-ish motor I feel saliva build up and a little drool slips out the corner of my mouth.
I live in the Midwest which unfortunately feels like a Sherco quarantine zone due to it's lack of dealers. In the event some brave soul would take in the little French moto bike I believe I'd be inclined to "need" to try one out!
I had to express my thought since in no way shape or form would my wife understand a word I just said haha. Do any of you have experience with this bike?

Im still awaiting the ossa 300i you know the lithe green bike with the reverse exhaust winding its way under the saddle... Man i want that thing so bad you could have a kidney in fact take two (not mine anyway)

I have a 'need' to try their new 450, but since the media release in August last year there are a total of THREE examples in Australia right now.
They are all pre-production examples.
One is a display bike for the local importer, one is in a special private persons hands being ridden & tested & the last one is being raced locally by Brock Grabham in enduros.

I've been told that they may by going to full production in May, with deliveries beginning to Aus late in the month.

The fire has gone cold, the very positive reviews are almost forgotten & we the consumer are left wondering what is wrong with the bike/company that is takes nearly a full year to deliver product after the release.
If supply of the full bike is so difficult, how will it be getting parts???

I'm torn because the bike reads like a good thing, I love the look of it & I don't like any of the competition, but I don't want a problem bike with difficult parts supply......
Not at interested in a white KTM.

Might have to just rebuild my TE449 engine & stay on it.

+1 on the 300 SE-R that and the Beta 300rr are on my short list of future bikes. I'm leaning more toward the Sherco.

Yes.

Obsession - yes
Drool - yes
"Needing" to try one out - yes
Buying one less than a week after a demo ride - yes
Asking for forgiveness rather than permission from boss - yes

...

I first contacted Sherco in October 2013. They suggested arrival of the 2 stroke in December. I visited a dealer in January. Not here yet. Fire went a little cold but I managed to harden up and survive the chill until a demo ride was available a whole 7 months after I was told they should be here. (Key words = harden up) hehe

Another +1 for the Sherco 300 SE-R! I don't even have an availability issue as there is dealer 2 hours away. I have a lack of $ issue!

@ Dangermouse
The issue with the 450 is the same issue they had w/ the 2 strokes: They don't want to release a model that isn't sorted. There's no supply issue with parts or the bike. They just want to get it right. Judging by what I've seen on the Sherco forum, they've done exactly that w/ the 2 strokes and the 300i.

I've ridden the Beta 300rr and it certainly has power I just didn't feel it was as smooth as some of the other 300's I've ridden. I could go either way on betas stock suspension but the biggest bummer was the rock hard 2x4 of a seat!

Chums, join the Sherco forum and express this concern over there. Ask if there are any demo rides close by or plans for dealers in the area, you might get lucky.

Oh by the way, the obsession doesn't stop once you're an owner.

So, don't tease / annoy the public by announcing the thing 15 years before it comes out.
Get it right, show the media, excite the public with good reviews & then sell the bikes.

They have it all arse backwards!!

Boogie, we've gotta get out again, been too long mate. What you up to over Easter??
