• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

embedding video on this site?

Now that I have a gopro I want to do up some vid. This site will not allow embedding. Any way to do that Dean?

BTW here is a quick vid from Sunday. Everything was frozen and slick as snot. I also had the gopro mounted to my chest protector and was to low. I have a bunch of ideas to make it better. The vid quality is a lot better before youtube mangles it.

I had to get someone to write some code to have videos embed on my forum. The source of the video is the key. There is probably a mod that can be added to this forum that would allow embedding of popular sights like Youtube. But most other hosting sites would require code to be written in the back end.

Like this? Put [ youtube] then [/ youtube] around the _uO-78EE3PU, but remove the space beteen the '[' and the next character.

[youtube]_uO-78EE3PU[/youtube]

I do need to put up the buttons for that, I'm still quite busy working other things in the back end.

Only youtube is supported at this time, well actually smugmug video is too, but describing that process is a little complicated.

The next version of vb is supposed to support all that with the stock code, not sure when or if, we will start using that.

Take the space out between [ and the y
then take the space out between the / and the y

Here is how to embed smugmug, and it is not easy.

You will be glad to know that the smugmug and vb.com people are not aware it can be done, but it was important to me... so...

Here is the html code for an "embeddable link" from this smugmug video, html cannot be turned on for security reasons, anyone could put up some really nasty things that could ruin this site - the possibilities are almost endless.

<object width="425" height="318" ><param name="movie" value="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2009090604.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="flashVars" value="s=ZT0xJmk9NjM4MjA2ODY0Jms9Umh4SmomYT04OTAzMTkyXzlSVWZUJnU9Y2FmZWh1c2t5" /><embed src="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2009090604.swf" flashVars="s=ZT0xJmk9NjM4MjA2ODY0Jms9Umh4SmomYT04OTAzMTkyXzlSVWZUJnU9Y2FmZWh1c2t5" width="425" height="318" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object>

Here is is again with 2 parts in bold, put just one of those bold string of characters around the smugmug tags. As you can see those 2 strings are identical.

<object width="425" height="318" ><param name="movie" value="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2009090604.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="flashVars" value="s=ZT0xJmk9NjM4MjA2ODY0Jms9Umh4SmomYT04OTAzMTkyXzlSVWZUJnU9Y2FmZWh1c2t5" /><embed src="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2009090604.swf" flashVars="s=ZT0xJmk9NjM4MjA2ODY0Jms9Umh4SmomYT04OTAzMTkyXzlSVWZUJnU9Y2FmZWh1c2t5" width="425" height="318" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object>

So it looks like this, but take out the spaces:

[ smugmug]ZT0xJmk9NjM4MjA2ODY0Jms9Umh4SmomYT04OTAzMTkyXzlSVWZUJnU9Y2FmZWh1c2t5[/ smugmug]

And the end result:

[smugmug]ZT0xJmk9NjM4MjA2ODY0Jms9Umh4SmomYT04OTAzMTkyXzlSVWZUJnU9Y2FmZWh1c2t5[/smugmug]

Better yet, here it is with the [ center] tags around it:

[smugmug]ZT0xJmk9NjM4MjA2ODY0Jms9Umh4SmomYT04OTAzMTkyXzlSVWZUJnU9Y2FmZWh1c2t5[/smugmug]

It is not a big deal at all, and it really does not matter, but I would have answered almost instantaneously had the question/thread been put up in the office.

I can keep up with the threads in there much easier than other areas. This site has gotten quite busy, and continues to get busier everyday.

Kelly...that point of view is going to be awesome once you get the angle right! It's kinda freaky right now...almost like you're floating or something. How did you mount your TrailTech? Did you use longer bolts and spacers?

Yeah, first time out and no way to view so it was a crap shoot. Next ones will be very good. Made a DVD last night and played in on my big screen, was like bing there.

Yes on the TT but I might move it, took a nasty shot to the leg on a water jump with a big bank ont he far side. Ouch.

On the TT...that thing is mounted in the perfect spot on your bike...dead center of the handlebar clamps. I had it mounted on the front portion of the clamps and it kept getting hung up on the front brake line.

What program are you using to convert video to DVD?

DVD maker on my wifes laptop which is included with Vista i think. Kinda cool, EZ to use and has nice features.

The perfect spot is mounted to the front of the Motoportz damper mount. It tucks it back nicely and doesn't interfere with the brake line. You can still see the screen well also.

Later,

I have the new HD Contour and my laptop is too outdated to work with HD...seriously...I had to really search hard just to find a program and setting to just watch them. I think HD is overkill for our applications...posting quick rides and such. When I get another computer, I'll edit and burn onto DVD's to share with family members. Vista with the DVD maker sounds just about right.

Yeah, as much as I love the quality of the HD units I opted for the standard because i knew i did not have the time or willingness to wait for all the editing, downloading, uploading and stuff. This was as much as i wanted to tackle. The quality is good enough and fun to watch. My kids were digging it. Next time should be much better now that i know what I am dealing with.

Hmmm...that looks perfectly placed.

But he is running my damper mount and the spacers so I think his setup is pretty tall. Although when we traded off it did not feel tall. Got a pic of the side Jake?

No but I can take some when I get home.

We hijacked this thread really good. :busted:

Thanks for the info on embedding Coffee. :applause:

Later,

I started the thread. Never been opposed to "hijacking" as they seem to go in interesting directions. Some people get upset over it, :excuseme:
