  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

You can send me your ecu, I can't flash upgrade it, but I can test it. Just make sure you put on there Attn: Michael only. Do not send USPS, always get insurance and tracking.

Just dropped it in FedEx.

Got my cap today Tinken. Thanks. If I hadn't been on a POS X military 1993 Case backhoe all day filling holes scoured from erosion and burroughed from smugglers under the US/Mexico border fence I'd be out working on it right now. My back has had it for the day. Looks great though and the sticker already got a place on my plastic side panel heat shield for the pipe.

Keep looking on ebay I've seen ECUs for sale as well. Can you have yours tested? I think maybe Tinken could do that at Zipty but I'm not sure. Or for what years. some are locked and can't be remapped. He does an exchange service for remapped ECUs for about 40.00 I'm not sure what 1 goes for without a good core but call him at ZipTy racing and ask him.

I'm installing a new PC V right now with the autotune O2 sensor as well and I don't plan on using the included splice connectors when installing. i'm soldering all my connections and sealing with heatshrink with glue inside of the heatshrink tubing.

If my ECU tests out faulty, can I use a G450x ecu? What about a TE511?

I took the PCV completely out for troubleshooting purposes. I will make solder connections when it goes back in.

Closure:
Armed with the knowledge that the coil and ECU are good, (thanks Tinken) I took the bike to the dealer an hour away. It took most of half a day for the tech to find the connection in the multipin coil plug was broken inside the connectoron the 12v side. He removed the pin and re soldered.

I checked the 12v and signal wires at the bullet connectors and not at the coil connector since my test leads would not fit easily inside. Stupid me.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in to help
