    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Electric Husqvarna Enduro?

I stopped over at a friends house yesterday and he had a new bike that looks exactly like a Husqvarna.... Only thing is it's White and Black... instead of Husqvarna Red, White and Black.

The only thing is it's White and Black... instead of Husqvarna Red, White and Black.

Size wise it's between a CRF150R and a Husqvarna CR125

Weight wise its 190 lb with horsepower between a CR125 and a 250 4 stroke.

He said the battery life is 2.5 hours at race speed and you have 100% of the power available up until the 2.5 hour mark.

I jumped on it for about 30 minutes and ripped up the woods trails behind his house as well as a little motocross track he has in his yard.

Anyway this thing flat out rips and the only noise it makes is the tire making contact with the dirt.

Check out the models, but the one I rode was the Quantya Strada which is their street legal enduro model with lights, turn signals and a horn.

It looks just like a little Husqvarna.

I been following these for years and they are really starting to show some promise. If i had some property i would have one for sure. They are very cool. Also very cool you actually got to ride one. :thumbsup:

A guy on ADV has been doing a writeup on this one http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/ for a few months now. The Quantya looks much better.

Additionally there is one smart dude here local that has converted a CRF250 to a 2 motor electric bike. It is very successful, pulls like a 450 and weighs slightly less than a CRF250.
 
These definately have my interest. I aggree the quantya does look much more refined/advanced than the zero bike. Very cool that you got to ride one Blip.

Here's a link to that 250f electric conversion. Man I would love to throw a leg over all of them. I think blasting through the woods makeing almost no noise would be the cats meow.

This guy is just down the road from me and I am supposed to go over and ride it one day soon. I have been in contact with him for over a year but he has had it apart to measure things up for manufacturing.

I've been following reports about zero bikes for a while too. Maybe 18 months ago someone rode one in an mx race in Sacramento CA area.

They are about an hour from me and often wondered if they had demo bikes to ride. Just clicked on that link and it seems replacement battery packs are about as much as a used bike these days ($3k).
 
I am in the process of scheduling a ride on the Zero bike. They called me to let me know that they have a brand new rep in WA and will be doing test rides!
 
I saw this article in MCN magazine.

The Zero Emissions Motorcycle is the answer to the increasing problems with noise restrictions for off-road racing according to KTM, and the 90kg machine is capable of running for 40 minutes before needing a charge in a race situation.

Charging can be completed in just one hour too.

KTM is keeping detailed performance and specification under wraps, but said the prototype produces 29.5 lb-ft of torque.

KTM’s Harald Ploeckinger said: “Ever more restrictive rules on noise and pollution emissions make all-terrain activity ever more difficult in Europe. So we want to make the practice of this sport easier near city centres and in sports halls."

That's the answer for sure. Making the panels, (Gas tank), fenders, etc.
out of solar panels might not charge the battery completely. . But it would add to the riding time.

A little off topic but still on solar panels I vision (see through) Solar Panels some day replacing all window in the city where building would become self sufficient.
 
I have been entertaining stocking quantya or zero to sell. The price of replacment batteries has me scared off of them as a dealer. Give it another 2 years and battery prices would be in line with the bikes. I wonder how much gas I would use recharging off an electric generator? That would kind of kill it for multiday camping trips.
Have you guys seen the prototype Jeep wranglers? 4 electric motors and full torque from a dead stop. There is a link at the bottom of Jeep.com.

Having an electric Jeep crawler would be unfair. Plus it could probably out accelerate a Corvette to 60 or 80. The Tesla does 0-60 in 3.9 sec.
 
I've been watching them too.....Insta-tork, 180-90 lbs, prolly scale anything. Now a SL one? I'm all over it like a fat kid on cake.

And..... sneaking up on trail-nazis like a ninja on rice paper.....then blasting my airhorn!
