  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Basically the recommended settings from the JD tuner box.

The riding I do is most technical tight single trail so I'm more concerned with torque and preventing flame outs than big power. My engine does occasionally still cut out while jumping a big log and I can't say if it's me or the bike, since this is the first bike I've ridden in this type of terrain.
I do the same kind of riding . The bottom end tuning does not effect the top end so tuning for big power on top is ok. I will review and make note of my curent settings and get them to you. The default JD setting did not work good for me at all. I have dyno tuned setings for my 12 TE 511

Rode my SMR with the updated mapping, it's like a new bike! JD Tuner is in bypass mode and I'm not sure it'll get used too much any more...

Is your bike faster on the top end ? Is the map only "jetting" ?

I am wanting to do a re-map but only if there are serious performance gains and not just jetting and another 250 rpm's :)

My collarbone is still healing so no real riding, just the commute home from the dealer. The low rpm/throttle opening hesitation and jerkiness is gone, no flame outs or stalls at all in the 70km ride home in traffic. Won't be giving the bike a work out for another month or so, so can't comment on the top end performance.

I do however really need to play around with this MME clutch lever to get the reach and activation point right.

When had a broken caller bone I could twist wheelies on my 1200 bandit , driving the 5-sp Tacoma was tough to shift. Don't tell me it hurts to twist a 511 lol

With a plate and 10 screws holding 4 pieces of collarbone together, I'm in no rush to push myself on the bike!

EDIT: It's been 2 months since it was plated and it's almost there :\ I've lost all the muscles you use when riding from lack of use :(

You shattered it , that's ugly :( mine broke clean and was able to do a push up 2 weeks later. :) cracked my shoulderblade and tore out a nail bed on broken glass at the bottom of a hillclimb on the same crash. My girlfriend at the time thought I was good enough to fool around when she brought me home from the hospital , she was wrong. She was a crazy Porterican .

I've only rode mine once (100 mile loop) with the map #3 and the JD disconnected. No flameouts in sections I normally got them with the JD (tight twisties). Bottom felt good, not nervous like before in the twisties. Didn't notice much difference on top, maybe a smidge more. Did use a smidge more fuel.

Sounds like the remap has a much improved fuel delivery. My JD settings sounds very similar in performance. On the JD a half position one way or the other can mean a big difference in thoughs flame out sections and top end power. I was fighting the low speed setings for a while with my JD and now it seems very good now . Sound like the remap isn't a ignition upgrade but a good way to make your bike run with the smog off and a high flow muffler.

got that and the stock aussie akro pipe. but still far from throttle response and snappynes then the ktm 530. i am in doubt about the 511. All these things we discuss here....... Oilspilling - Map 3 and wtf - Resetting TB - Gearing - .... Its just not comparable with the KTM 530 at all. I got the 511 , i like it, but it all goes to a certain degree. My friends KTM is completley Stock. It will shred the 511. Just had a ride on it again.
