• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Easter Sunday trail ride

For those of you who know me, you know where I went. Same place I always go. Weather was quite warm, the air sort of humid and thick. The sky was gauzy with thin clouds. In years past, this area was very popular and busy on Easter Sunday. But this year, there was almost nobody out there. Makes me wonder why, even though I would rather have it this way. Just curious....

I dressed in my very best Easter egg colored riding duds for the occasion.

Up in the northernmost end of the valley, miles from the OHV area.

Progress....yuck. These new towers are popping up all across the valley and ruining the scenery. They and their cleared spaces also have a direct impact on water drainage when there a re storms out there.

The 300 of singletrack fun.

There are lots of these interesting stacked rock formations out there.

Perfect way to spend the day.... Went to the north Barstow area myself..... Had the whole place to myself as well......... Loved it, had a map, a GPS and my trusty Husky. Just no camera...... Like your pictures, Thanks for posting........

Here is also some pre-Easter GoPro footage of the same area. Yes....the bike is green, and if I pause from time to time, it's because I don't want to lose my guest that I am showing around. It's easy to get disoriented and lost out here if you don't know your way around. This is the first time that I have used the camera since I got it, and it's already obsolete. And no, I haven't learned how to do any editing yet.
