  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Can someone tell me where the little washer sits on the seat dzus fastener? (or maybe share a picture of theirs) Mine will turn and lock the seat in, but when i unlock it, it pulls right out of the seat. I am going to try and make one from a plastic bottle top (CH post suggestion) but looking at it, not 100 sure where it sits and approx how big it is. Thank you

There is a small ridge near the end of the bottom of the seat fastener that works as a interference fit to retain the stock plastic washer- the washer looks like nylon 6 or similar and is a tough durable material. Not everyday bottle plastic. Until you get this figured out I would suggest you run a nasty ziptie or even a couple of tire tube elastics through the loop at the top of the fastener to the subframe or similar so that you do not lose the fastener if you are still riding.

i run the plastic washer between the dzus and the seat, so you arent tearing up the seat cover..mine really stays put in the seat well however. off or on the bike

Yes it goes over the fastener from the bottom of the seat. If you look close, the washer has a beveled edge that allows it to snap over the end. You can reuse them if careful.

Its worth replacing the four oem bolts that attach the radiator shrouds to the tank under the seat. Replace them with a button type head to save ripping the bottom of the seat every time you take it on and off.

My 09 bike came with button heads. Did yours not? Although, Here I am after 4 years of hard riding and they have worn holes through the seat cover. So new one is on its way.
And....fixed the Dzus!
thanks all.

Guess they were not prepped that well here in New Zealand.
Lots of little issues right from the start.

Thats a bummer. My bike has been very solid all around since day 1. I am giving it an overhaul for the upcoming season right now. I can't wait to get it back out on the trail!
