  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Dyno Tuning the 511

dirtriderpw88

Husqvarna
A Class
As promised a while back, I said I would be using my bike for a dyno mule and would post the results. The bike is a 13 TE511 and all hp results are to the rear tire.

Run 004 Base run all stock 34.30 hp
Run 007 Jumper wire installed (Race Map II) 40.20 hp
Run 016 FMF slip on, jumper wire, Race Map III downloaded 42.74 hp
Run 029 FMF slip on, jumper wire, Race Map III, street tire 45.96 hp
Run 051 FMF slip on, jumper wire, Race Map III, street tire, JD Tuner 48.36 hp

My poor bike endured 54 dyno pulls without a hiccup!

Hope this is informative.

48?....that's it? :(

I will be going with fmf slip on, tc airbox lid, racemap II jumper and PC V with auto tune. I was hoping it would put down in the low 50's!

As mentioned, that's to the rear tire. You lose approximately 20% from the advertised (crankshaft) hp to the rear tire. It calculates to roughly 58hp which is really strong compared to the 100's of dirt bikes we've ran on our dyno over the last few years.

That sounds about right for his modifications. I had major engine work done in order to get above 60hp.

54.3 hp @9krpm from a 511 needs to have pc5, air box lid and evo1 Akropovic full exhaust with resonator.
I removed my F brand bomb and silencer and went to Akro. I still feel like I am strapping myself to a rocket each time I ride, but it's a little quieter now.

It's not about how much hp you can make, it's all about where you make it. You can see in the video at 4:20 he is making roughly 35hp at 4000 rpm (that's stock maximum hp at 4k rpm).

So what's better the F or the A? The A is too expensive for me so either way I will be staying F, but would be nice to know if its worth it.

I know dyno's read differently but I'm way off the mark with only 43 bhp. (PCV burson map, TC airbox lid and factory restrictive AKRA) I'm going to be replacing the Akra with an Arrow exhaust shortly and then getting it custom mapped.

Nice info, thanks! Sounds about right. Docile kitten as stock, ripper uncorked. I love this motor.

Stock with no jumper wire, it was an absolute pig and would fall flat on it's face! You can literally see it on the dyno sheet. I rode it about 10 mins before putting the jumper wire in.

I know, I had one of the first ones in the NW. Still have it and all uncorked.

Stock XR600 had 34hp, so it wasn't too bad stock, still has enough power to motor up most things. But powered up is pretty nice :D
