  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Dual Sporting A Txc449

I put a Trail Tech Vapor on mine and it plugged in to the existing magnetic pick up wire on the front rotor. I am not sure how accurate it is but seems to be close as long as all the other cars have been doing the speed limit that is.

where did you plug it in? I had to splice into the existing wires... it didn't pickup the signal at all

There's a small two prong plug that matches the connector on the trail tech gauge. It's pluged into the main harness.

no Shat? I wish i would have looked... i just assumed that there were no plugs on the bike that would remotely match the tiny plugs that are on the Vapor...thanks Huskovite :banghead:

Not a problem, also you can adjust the speedo to your actuall tire size too. Measure the diameter I mm and multiply by3.14. Then enter the number in the setup. Should be spot on.

cool, i knew about the formula for the correct reading on the speedo, but i never got out of the gate with this thing and honestly lost interest after i started riding it!

I have bought two 2011 TXC 449's now.
The first was lit by my dealer. I don't like much of it.
the Moose headlamp doesn't adjust low enough to touch the ground. Will have to fabricate another braket.
The flimsy rear fender is not a good mount for the arecibis tail assembly.
And the Vapor got flooded on the first rain ride. Still does not work properly.
Forget about the horn.
And they put my front blinkers on upside down. Drain holes now collect water and debris.
Blah blah blah.

I went with an X2 and voyager for the second build. Also had RockyMountain send me a generic dual sport Kit with probably too much, but I thought that would be the best way for a Jack Leg to start this project.
Just getting parts this week and will see how it all works. The TrailTech X2 has a Husky sticker that is nice. Put it on last night.

Been looking for a wind screen. Gonna see if a KTM works.

i hated working with the Rock Mountain Tusk Wire harness. i like to make my own, just easier for me to trace. Their light switch was fine.

I loved the tusk wire harness. It was all there and easy to install. I even found a use for that worthless area in the rear fender assembly and filled it with connecters.

The X2 didn't match up with the connectors. I haven't spliced yet, but have it all together otherwise. Might look for a female end. Or try a different head light. Not sure how much I am liking this X2 on the bike and it doesn't fit that well with only one set of fork straps that are too high. The large generic rear light assembly worked great. I used it to re-enforce the flimsy rear fender. And it was long enough to make to the worthless gap area and was able to drill straight in. No exposed wires. Nice.

I don't have the patience to post pics on this site. PM me and I can send an email.

Jeff

Anyone have issues with the Vapor using the factory wire? Mine works but every now and then it will get "confused" and go crazy.

They just sold my buddy a txc449 with all husky street parts except the turn signals. They put on flush mount LED turn signals, which are awesome. Everything turned out really nice. I kind of wish I bought a txc310 and had them modify it. Their price was reasonable too. Talk to Josh.

Once I quite moving, I shut the bike off. Then I pried the front wheel out of the muck. Water definetly got in the exhaust. Not sure how much got in the intake. I did see it was close to the inlet. I was able to get it started in the "puddle" and ride it out. Amazing traction.

As far as how deep, I would say about that deep.
