  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Dual Sporting A Txc449

Hope you are liking the TXC on the street. I have had mine plated for a month now. It's not bad even up to 70. I went from the stock rear sprocket to a 47 and that really kept the buzz down at higher speeds. It really isn't that bad with the JD tuner it pulls the front wheel easily in 3rd still. Tight trailwork obviously suffers but there are lots of wide open places it shines out here in Texas. I have been trying to get my Trail Tech Vapor computer to read my MPH from the speed sensor pickup on the front caliper that shipped with the bike but no luck so far. Not sure why the trailtech isnt seeing it it just doesnt see a magnetic pulse there.

I just used the factory pickup line and it plugs right into the vapor. It seems to be close but I haven't checked to be sure.

Yeah i spliced in, checked it twice and nothing, was going to try the vapor pickup in place of it next.

have you had any luck getting it to read? i am having the same issue. i plug the stock sensor into the computer directly and it reads. i plug the bike harness in with where i spliced and it does read. i tested my splicing and it tests good.

i have a 2011 txc 449 and put a polisport headlgt. and a acerbis tail light/ brake light , a husky brake light switch and i found a hot wire up front when bike is running and spliced into it to get power, then a small wire back to the brake switch back up to the rear brake light . and done. speaker wire is very small and has ample insulation around wires and makes a great way to get needed wires from front to rear.
works great .

Here how we built Rays bike at BMP,Trail tech Vapor and trail tech light.

nope stopped messing with it. I am thinking of taking out the sensor that came with the bike and using the one that came with the Vapor. I am not sure what the one that comes with the bike even does? Guess i'll try unplugging it first and go for a ride. Could always tap into the Vapor sensor with the wiring that's on the bike.

i tried just plugging the stock sensor into the trail tech and the speedo works fine. called trail tech about it and they said the bikes engine fuel injection computer doesn't use the signal for anything and to just bypass the bike harness and leave the sensor plugged into just the trail tech computer. my only issue is that if the injection system doesn't use speed signal for anything then why is the sensor there from the factory. i work on cars for a living and their computers use vehicle speed for mapping and injection. its been my experience that manufacturers don't put on anything extra they don't have to to save money. maybe someone on this forum could shed some light on whether the injection system uses a speed sensor signal for anything. for now i think i'll just leave it plugged into the trailtech and see if the bike acts any different.

Huh, i wonder if the TC MX model uses one? It may be one of those situations where they are needed on the TE street legal version for whatever regulations but has no effect on performance. Good to hear that you got it working in either event. I will hook mine up tonight and see where that takes me. Did you have any luck with the tachometer tapping into the harness for coil over plug?

maybe they just put the sensor on all of the forks for simplicity sake- who knows. I just took the coil out and moved the weather seal down and wrapped the wire around the coil just below the top and rolled the weather seal back up. only issue i have is hopefully water doesn't get in there and down to the plug but it seems to seal pretty well still and doesn't seem to bind the coil from going back into the hole. i am trying to leave the bike harness alone as much as possible. tach seems to work normally.

I know that this thread is kinda old, but I just finished installing the switches and lights on my TXC449. Now I just need to figure out which speedo to get. Any recomendations. I have been lookin at the Voyager by Trail Tech. Just not sure if the GPS is necessary, but I do like to have the best. I used the LED Smoked lens signals from Sicass.

Here are some pics, not sure why some people don't like the look of rear tail light, I prefered it over the after market stuff myself.12-04-24-3204.jpg12-04-24-3205.jpg12-04-24-3207.jpg

Looking good. Are you going to go with the stock gearing or switch out the rear? I went with a 47t on the back... cruises at 65 now but don't much like it for single track of course. I don't mind the rear fender for looks i just don't like the 2 piece design. The rear and front fender with the valley down the center of them are a great place to hold tools while your working on it too!
Oh and you didnt get the uncorked Akro with your TXC?

I actually wanted to go with a 13 up front. Savin for the warp 9 sm rims. Then I'll gear it for speed. No akro, was I supposed to get one, if so I'll call the dealer and see whats up. I did get it at a deep discount, it bein a leftover but I should still get the parts it was supposed to come with.

yes you are supposed to get the power up kit which includes the Akro and the jumper. Easy enough to install yourself but the dealer i bought mine from had mine already installed. I of course also got the big can in a box to take home...which takes up precious real estate in my already overstuffed garage.

Im running a 15 up front and a 48 rear for racing cross country . my te449 does have some bolt on goodies and i coyld go to a 46 rear without effecting the bike with stalling. The more power i have the higher the gearing it will pull.

Enjoy your bike on the road. I hadn't road mine to work in over a week... it showed because it felt like a ticket or loss of licence the whole way here!

I got the plug, bike runs great with stock can, nice and quiet. Just looks ginormous. Asked about the akro dealer said the last of the leftovers they got didn't come with it. Spud with that gearing u must be flyin. I picked up the 13 tooth when I got my speedo, didn't get it put on yet. The knobies are a little Squirrely on the road, that's unpredictable for our English friends.

Im not running any restriction in my fmf and its LOUD! with a capital L......so loud slower riders pull over 50 metres ahead and if they dont i give the throttle a few WOOM-BARS they soon get the message. 94db idle i reckon 140db half throttle.....i said its loud CAN YOU HEAR ME........hahaha
