  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Dual Sporting A Txc449

Are you doing a kit or just building as you go. The bike is not here, its a friend that wants this done. I am the mechanic and just looking for good information to get a jump start on this project. A good hot wire to start with. I have seen kits that all you need to do is hook it up to the batters and done, but its a bit of a price.

I'm waiting to do my 511 and have gotten mixed info about where to wire in. Originally the shop said that the TXC's have the same wiring as the TE's and they later retracted that statement. I'm going to do the trailtech X2 and they also said the Husky kit will plug right in... but to what????

Well you got somewhat of an answer and one better, they said there is a Husky kit? For me it is just being proactive for my friend to get it done fast. Time will tell I guess but I am still hoping that I will get more information at least before iI have to get to it.

Right. Trail Tech said to order the 2008 SM? kit because he claims it will work. But, like I said I don't know what it is plugging in to. I was planning on just getting a universal kit and going straight to the battery and wiring a key into the ignition but the trail tech switch has an off position for the lights. The tail light is the other issue I guess Ill find a hot wire to wire it in.

I work for a husky dealer and rep told us the bikes txc's were a plug and play with the te light setups. Well this doesn't seem to be the case but may still be because they do use the same wiring harness as the te. If you take of the number plate you will see the wiring for the switches. I am hoping that small harness can be replaced with the te model and then it will be a plug and play but I cannot find a part number for it. Anyway in the main pug coming in you have two power wires #4 and #6. I believe the te uses #4 as the power for the headlight and turn signals. #1 the brown one is the ground. The lights will stay on for about 45 seconds after you turn off the bike.

JUICHALL! Keep the info coming! SO you are saying that if we wanted to plug in an OEM or aftermarket light we can either plug in with an adapter or splice into the #4 and the computer takes care of the timing of keeping the power on?

Trailtech switch won't work for me I leave everything on. I will call husky on tuesday and see why the part number is not in the catalog after that I will get all the factory parts and prices listed.

I found the part number but buying all the parts to have it setup like the te really isn't practical. I will share what I bought and what I plan on doing.
8000H5006 HORN $20.96 There is cheaper but this is a direct fit so easy
8000H1176 TAILLIGHT CABLE 14.97 Plug for factory taillight and signals plugs directly to the harness

This is what I am getting plus headlight (I made my own), taillight and turn signals.

I should be able to route the taillight and rear turn signals through the factory wiring harness that is why I bought the factory taillight cable. If not then I will need to run a new harness from front to back. Should be really easy to setup. Favorite part is that there is power up to the front already and it turns on and off with ignition.

A pressure switch won't really work on the front so I ordered a factory switch.

Since I have a TE250 and a TXC511 I have pondered trying this swap.....if I feel like burning a weekend in the garage.

Thanks Juicehall, i like were you are going with this, these were my ideas too. The only thing that I would like to do is get the rear tail light assy from the factory.

So you are tapping into the power up front for the headlight and using the factory taillight cable for the rear? I am getting close to ordering parts and was wondering how the tail end stays powered up without the brakes applied. Everything else seems cake I just don't have the parts in front of me to see how it all goes together.

Also, do you have to have turn signals in Utah? Here in CO we don't and I don't feel that they help much anyway since I always pretend that people are trying to hit me anyway...

Ya Utah requires turn signals. I am not sure how its going to work with the taillight but the rear cable was cheap so I thought it was worth the try. If it doesn't work then I will just run the needed wires from front to back.
jaysktms I think the factory taillight looks fine but it's kind of expensive and I would rather have a aftermarket custom led light. This is what you need to run the factory taillight also not listed is a handful of spacers, grommets and mounting hardware.
8000h3918 rear fender 24.88
8000h6091 License plate bracket 12.45
800073834 Reflector 2.68
8000h1418 Taillight 102.33

Cool. I like the trailtech switch with the kill switch on it. I don't need blinkers so it seems like the best fit for their x2 headlight too.
