• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I get to a place and don't like to play too much.....stuck.
plus in between services internal may change a little as well. Or external changes happen like a big tank=more weight.
Yesterday I went into playing with my forks again....ended up 2 clicks in on Comp and 3 more clicks open on REB, the bike felt much higher in the front and I thought too much but when I hit the ugly stuff and even the sharp winding corners of our tough one loop- the bike felt sooooo good and way more balanced. These things don't take much to throw them off or work them into your own personal nirvana

Yeah, when you get used to something, it's hard to justify turning clickers. Ya gotta stop grab tools and remember where you started. I just don't mess with mine much. It took a guy like Ty to notice my rebound was way outta bounds watching me ride. I was like oh, that's much better. But for numb skulls like me, unless it's goes metal to metal, or tries to throw me like a bronco, it's good enough. I really need to take a day or two and mess with stuff.

True for me too.- started out on a '82WR happy as a clam UN-ajusted - had a ton of fun. Years later started to pay attention and adjust my stock suspension. Way better. More years later I will not ride stock suspension anymore. Using proper valving, oils, etc. Way better-er. In the beginning I thought suspension was voodoo- free at last. I had to learn I could adjust it and try it and if I did not like it return it to previous settings or try a new setting. I have ridden everything I have with the clickers full in and full out- had to see what it felt like.

I have tape on my crossbar pad that I write all my settings on with sharpie permanent marker, I just cross out the old and write the new.

I think I know what you mean, sometimes I reflect back after a ride and realize the bike was doing something funky in certain situations. Yesterday while riding I noticed my rear shock spring was feeling soft and then remembered when I got my suspension revalved it was a toss up between 5.8 and a 6.0... I went 5.8 and that's when I weighed 210 lbs. Now that I'm 215 lbs and I've also learned that someone as tall as me can and should go stiffer I'm thinking of trying a 6.0 or 6.2.

oddly enough the WP factory services guys set me up with 5.8 said this was their max that they like to use, they also told me straight up not to worry about static sag just set your race sag, 100-105.....so even they have their own thoughts about this stuff.

I have always stuck with the @35mm static/100mm race sag for linkage bike formula---which puts me on 6- 6.1 spring

Also Ty Davis told me he likes a lighter spring on his 2 stokes and uses short static settings @ 25mm and even less to get that 100-103 race sag number with a lighter spring

FYI stuff to consider.

For me I like the short race sag so @ 100mm is my goal in set up

Ty helped me set the sag on the 2fiddy after we got the right spring in there and he serviced the TTX and I gotta say the thing is like butta. The chopped wood pit at LDS was easy.

My son's race bike is set up 6.4 5.2 and he weighs the same or a little less than me but is 6'8" and much faster then me (6'6" and slow). When I ride his bike it feels perfect, the faster you go the better it gets. His suspension guy told me to set his rear sag to match the front, I cant remember what the number was but I know it works better than any bike I have ridden.
