  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Does anay one make preformance cams for the txc 511?

WTF....the thing is ungodly fast off road when stock. Maybe you're looking for something in a torquey 'RV' grind (as in motorhome, not Ryan Villopoto )

I could see looking for more power on pavement.....but in the dirt eeeekkkkk

Mabe the cam timing is off??? I purchased the bike used. The bike is super torquey off the bottom but there is no snap when in deep sand woops. Its got the jd programmer and fmf pipe on it.

Make sure the power up plug is installed, under the seat ahead of the battery, behind the airbox. It looks like a small USB flash drive with 2 prongs and a pull hoop on it.

One other cheap trick is to lower the gearing, I dropped the front 1 tooth on both my 449 and 511. Keeps it in the powerband in the Oregon desert.

My JD is on the stock settings, it's possible yours is maladjusted?

Don't drill the air box, just purchase a 2012 TC449 lower lid for 23.99.

Could you be more specific on which FMF exhaust you have and what your JD settings are?
There are hotter cams available for the TXC511, although before going to that extreme, other options can be taken to get the 511 to 54-56HP which should effectively scare the crap out of you in the dirt.

Its got an fmf power core 4, and i just cut open the air box last night. I checked the valves and cam timing and its in spec. jd specs -green 3/4-yellow4/5-red5/6- green blue 3 -yellow/blue4 -red blue5. Thanks , I appreciate all the help!! Gonna ck on the hot cams!!! Im supposed to race a desert race on it this weekend.

Had to ride a diffrent bike but here is a link to my goggle cam for the race.. Gonna pull the motor tonight port the cyl head on the 511. Re surface the cylinder and head. I also orderd a tc exhaust cam. Has anayone ever removed the secondary butterfly in the injector housing?

Why would you remove the second butterfly?

We went to a race out in Barstow, CA and it looked just like that video

I got lost here...head gasket blown would explain the poor performance...but you still want to port and cam?
You should be talking to those SM riders, they are always looking for 1 more horsepower.. :-)

I would add TC449 megabomb and 4.1 rct + PcV before going to cams. You're going to run into trouble trying to tune those cams with just a JD tuner, wasn't meant for that...

I would most definitely, think very seriously and listen to Tinken he has a direct line with ZipTy racing they really do know a thing or 2 about desert racing (Nat H&H pro class) TXC/TC 449/511s. They were the factory race team here in the US and arguably had the fastest 449/511s and pilots in the world (not counting rally bikes). my 2 cents.
