  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

do I need to take my bike in to get Racemap installed???

what's up everybody!
just bought a 2012 TE511. I live in the states so it is a US bike.
I have already removed the evap canister and plugged the vacuum at the head.
So, my dealer says I need to bring the bike in to have the slip-on installed and have the powermap "downloaded".
Except ...
I have already installed the jumper myself, and the dash reads Racemap II, and I can install the slip-on myself in about 5 minutes. The dealer wants 80 bucks for the download.
Thing is, I am not sure if I need to bring it in for the "download" which I am not sure is necessary. It seems just plugging in the jumper did the trick and feels like a ploy to extract 80 smackers out of my wallet.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

well, rather not throw them under the bus. Just curious if this is something that can only be done at the dealer, or is it just the jumper plug in.

Anyone ???
Simply put, is the racemap just a matter of plugging in the jumper? Or is it also an actual download? This is for an American 2012 te511
Thanx!

I bought my bike from GP. No one there seemed to know anything about the magic jumper plug. Because of all the discussion on here, and my stalling upon stopping (and at other inopportune times), I knew I needed it. Called the head tech guy out of Corona and he told me they aren't supposed to touch the Huskies (in California....maybe scared of the Air Cops). And he didn't lend any discussion about the magic plug.

GP had a used demo model and I got him to look at it and it had the jumper plug installed.....apparently from the factory? After some complaining, and them trying to find a Husky part number (which they couldn't at the time), he was reluctantly nice enough to take it off that bike and give it to me. I think it has a BMW part#. The 2011's need the plug. I feel it is a safety issue that Husky or the dealer should take care of. My bike needed and wanted more (fuel) than just the plug (could give). The JD tuner completely solved my issues, but you still need the plug with the tuner.

Even I could plug it in. There are a lot of threads on here about it. Good Luck

Sorry to get off your question, the jumper puts it into racemap II. I didn't need to download anything for my 2011.

thanks! I installed the jumper, figured that was about it, and after some research and the input here that seems to be the case.

The dealer wanted to suck me in too, when complaining about the stalling. If they didn't know about the plug, I wasn't going to let them touch the bike. I think I cried enough about not getting the plug that he finally gave it to me to stop me from coming around.

JD tuner, 46T rear, FMF slip-on, bailed the smog can and O2 sensor and I've been riding problem free.....giggling like a kid when the bike accidently-on-purpose stands the front end up through the gears!

Have fun and hope to see you around.

So, I got asked today, the tech says there is a download they can put on the 2012s that is for the Akropovic full system. They wanted to sell this to me today. I told them I want to consider what efi upgrade (PC5, JD, OEM) I will be using, but not to do it right now.
Still haven't heard even a word about a download for these bikes except twice from the dealer.
What gives, is there a download for my 2012 tE511???

Here in Australia they come with the plug and a Akropovic slip on from the shop and as soon as they install these two items the bike automatically goes in to race map II ( this was the case when I got my 2011 511 anyway) the only thing that the dealer might want you to come in and download something would be too reflash your EFI to suit the bike with your new slip on on??? Which I dont think is really necessary. Its a funny one maybe he has some funky new download to reset the flux capacitor and add extra halogen to your light globes, if he does keep it on the download as everyone will want it!!

He's talking about giving you the TC449 maps, but it's not worth it (voids your warranty). Better off just getting the JD from Motorsportz. If you have questions, Kelly can help you with it. If you need warranty work done, just unplug the JD and act innocent. :D

That's what I'ma talkin' bout guys! Thanks for the heads up! Next is a steering damper, and some springs for my 225lb arse. Should be a fun bike! I will get to the JD tuner after springs (if necessary) steering damper, and the nomad tank. I hate running out o' fuel ...

Hello,
I just bought a 2012 TE511 and it came with the Akrapovic slip-on, oxy sensor removed and racemap II installed as I can see it on the dash as Bankso said. Don't really know anything about these plugs. :)

If the download gives your bike more rpm it might be worth it... My 2012 TE511 runs flat on top even with the JD and FMF . I just found out today while I was testing... 15-45t gearing is 85mph and then the bike goes flat.

It shouldn't go flat... there is a lean spot from 7-8000 rpm you have to tune out, other than that, there are air box restrictions and with mods will take you to 11K rpm.

My bike is night and day with the FMF and JD. I have pulled out the snorkel intake is all the air box mods I have done. It seems like the bike hits a wall way quick , I never really noticed it before riding single track only recently running it out on top end . Could it be in my JD settings even though I am at 8 on Red ? Is there another restricter in the intake somewhere ? I think the air is allmost being force fed into the airbox at 80 mph with no snorkel on the intake. Maybe the o2 sensors are messing with the systems ? Thanks guys.

Mine falls flat up high on the street also. Seems like it runs out of air??? quicker in 1st-3rd, and not as quick in 5th. Maybe it is being force feed a little at faster speeds, just not enough? I'm set up like you except stock at the airbox (w/snorkel). Mine doesn't seem to fall off on single track, maybe because the motor isn't as loaded down as on street?

Stock airbox sures does make the filter last though :o
