  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Disc Guard Options

Watched a friend bend his front disc on a rock. Not fun. We had to pull the brake off and he rode home s.l.o.w.l.y.

I have no guards on the brakes on my bike (2009 TE310). My KTM buddies have their Acerbis gear (included with the ready-to-race package). There are some beautiful but expensive items offered by forum sponsors that I am looking into, but I was wondering if I can make either of these two (on sale items) work if I order the right substitute make/model:
Front
Rear

Thoughts?

i have a P3 carbon fiber front disc guard if you're interested, nice piece. i grabbed it off a member here thinking it would fit my '07 TC but it doesn't. it came off an '09 TE310. fits my '09 WR but i already have guards on it.

i'll drop you a PM with more info.

I am not sure that eather one of those items, especially the front, will prevent a bent rotor.

Well proven protection for many years. Very light for unsprung weight, very strong.

IMHO the front one you link to will do nothing but fill with rocks and mud (that was my experience with these types back in the day) The rear one is almost as much as our and i bet flexible and not as protective.

I have the rear Motosportz guard. It definately has taken a pounding from the rocks. Very happy with it.

F and R on both my bikes 08 and 09 TE450 from MS, great products and rightly priced. If you look at my bike ad see all the scratches and rock scrapes you would say they are worth it. I still managed to bend my front Rotor once when I slammed into the rear of my sons YZ250. He said the tree jumped out in front of him when we were dicing up in the hills. haha
