  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Difference between the TE570 and the TE610

Husqvarna
C Class
Hello

Im shopping for a 610 and came across some info which indicates that the 570 and the 610 were quite similar.
Is this true? Im comparing models from 2004 to 2006....
Im not looking for anything as high maintanance as the 510, so my choice is leaning towards the 610 unlesss the 570 turns out to be a good option.

Thanks in advance

Husky had a TE610 left kickstart enduro model from '91 until '00, then in '01 the designation changed to TE570 and that model was around until '04 (Only '02 in NA Market). These bikes are not electric start DS models, but left kickstart enduro race models. DS model TE610E from '98 and then model designation was changed to TE610 in '06, as there was no longer a TE610 enduro race model. They all share a similar frame and engine top end.

'98-'04 have older 1990's style seat and plastics, analog cluster, Dellorto carb, right side up forks, cush rear hub, twin pipes. They are a little lower and a touch more street oriented. I own an '03 TE610E. '06-'07 models have updated 2001's slimmer seat and plastics, digital cluster, Keihin carb, USD forks, no cush hub, single pipe. A little taller and a little more dirt oriented.

I got to test ride a 2001 570 on a track and loved the way it handled.
Then my buddy who worked as parts manager for Husky NA received a shipment of left over 2000 610's from somewhere in south America. He offered us a smoking deal so my buddy and I each bought one (we had to do the transaction through a dealer we knew). We were even allowed to pick out the ones we wanted, all packed in original shipping cases.
Turns out in 2001 they pulled back the steering rake which made the 2001 570 turn a lot sharper in tight woods. But the 610 still made a great trail bike. We both converted them to be dual sports.
the only warnings about those era bikes are the auto retract kickstand. the bike will walk if you let it idle on the kickstand (even on level ground). When the bike falls over the shifter will bust a hole in the clutch cover. I had a hell of a time getting 1 replacement cover in the early 2000's, not sure how the stock is now :(. I was lucky enough to know the parts manager, he gave me a billet cover off one of the retired race bikes while I waited for the replacement. the billet covers at that time were custom made so there was no buying them.

Up-Tite Husky did and still makes a billet clutch cover for the single cam/left kick bikes. I had one on my '01 TE400 and presently have one on my '93 WXC350.

I'm pretty much set on a bike from 04 to 07.
Looking at the 610 as a 'safe' bet, but the 510 has a lot of benefits over the 610 that i have to take into consideration. The downside is the much higher level of maintenance, and that is what im searching now - how much smaller are the intervals exactly...
Finding some inconsistent info, but looks like the 510 can go about 40hrs before an oil change and about 80hrs before the valve check. I havent found an exact number on the rod bearings, but seems that maybe a 100hrs or so - which is why I havent pulled the trigger yet on the 510.
610 is more like a street bike, around 3000 miles for an oil change and only check/replace 'as necessary' on valves and bearings.

This site is an obviously good resource, but its a lot of info to sifle through...

Here's a picture of my '01 TE400.... that the present owner has a full DS kit and updated to red and white plastics, with late model TE610 shrouds. You could do the same with an '01-'02 TE570.

Yours looks like a very clean conversion.

Its possible, but seems that the big price break comes from the pre 06 models, so 04' '05 seem to be the best value.
