Guys,
I just changed the oil in my Terra, spent the day in my "Old Guys Garage"....I looked at the equivilent 10w50 at a local bike shop...it was $12 US for a qt. I went to a local auto parts store you know those three guys....castrol syntec 5w50 was $8.00 US so in keeping with my new toys requiremets as closely as I could.....ahem
I got the 5w50....my manual fob thing was buggered up so I found an oil change thread on here and used the info therein....found my new bike was low on oil as well as coolant....so much for a big time dealerships cred to me.....
At any rate the plug had loads of gunk caught up on ther magnet probe and my drain pan stays in a clean place so when I drained the waste oil into the bottles I looked in the dregs....lots of shiney bits and what reminded me of waste material you'd find in a threaded boss inside of some thing mechanical........It was different finding the bung I had to remove to drain the oil tank....it was so tight I removed it after the oil drained....next is to check the air filter....chain maintainence was pulled as it was getting funky....
I'll admit I am new to dual sport bikes not motorcycles as a whole ,I've been riding since I was young and doing most of my own maintainance along the way on all of my motorcycles....I enjoy the time with my motorcycles....its good to know one can do these things and it be right....at least I wouldn't let one leave my shop to start its life low on oil and coolant.....
If I may ask of any readers who own Terras did everyone get a tool kit with their bike from new? I didn't and my sales guy doesn't know how to respond to me...
