  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Any one know of any good and decent priced KTM / Husqvarna diagnostic tool available? 2016 model year compatible.

So far not. KTM or Husky dealer only.

Last time I looked even KTM got locked out the Husky side and the other way around due to a dealer overstepping the line.
The tool is constantly updated and checked over the internet too, so even if you get one from a dealer going out of business it will be locked out eventually.

What do you want to do? Just upload a map or do the diagnostics also?

Diagnostics check on the bike. No start, doesn't have fuel. Don't think the fuel pump is coming on. A nice plug in tool to check codes would be nice like automotive.

Yes I know, it makes things so much easier. I used a system like that on the road going KTM's for years (tuneecu) but it doesn't work with these bikes due to canbus communications.
Best thing to do is undo the fuel hose and put it in a jar or back in the tank with a length of other hose and push starter button. Just keep the hose securely in place as it's high fuel pressure.
The system is reasonably simple, if the ECU sees the crank sensor it starts the pump and spark. If you have neither fuel nor spark it's ecu or crank sensor related. If only fuel is missing check pump.
You have a friend with similar bike, just swap tanks for a try.

Yeah I got it up and going again. It just seems crazy there isn't a good tool out there for this. Is so common in automotive and powersports vehicles are so far behind as far as that is concerned.

Thanks.

The GS 911 for the beemers are supposed to get the KTM/Husky ware on it soon.
That would be great!
On the road bikes a lot of the parts are similar, like the Bosch ABS and so on. Once the access protocol is cracked it should be all go.
