• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

DC plastics XC500 stuff report

Just thought I would report on this stuff for anyone interested. I wanted to freshen up my bike but its a rider so went with the inexpensive stuff. I got side panels, stickers and tank stickers as well. The side panels fit fine. You have to drill a few holes. The stickers they provide are very high quality, thick and super sticky adhesive. The tank stickers are really cool as they cover the whole side of the tank and up around the top. Nice protection and coverage. Not original but again was just looking to freshen it up. Pretty happy with the cost and quality / results.

thanks. I really have not put much time and effort into it. Its not a garage queen and I intend to give it a good thrashing so it will be presentable but not showroom like some of these guys build.

footpegs?

DCplastics imports and sells the really nice HVA-FACTORY ones. - https://www.dcvmx.com/xcart/product.php?productid=20427&cat=395&page=1

i will have to have a set someday soon i think

pretty sure 86 to 88 have different pegs than all the earlier. 85 single shock uses the older style

so anybody know why the IMS claims to fit all huskies made for 33 years and the HVAs are all over the place for only 18 years i'd like to use HVAs because im gona use some other stuff from there. really looking forward to my first build tread on CH:banana:

STILL TRYING TOO TRACK DOWN SOME PEGS FOR MY 87 I'V BEEN SEEING SOME PIXS ON HERE OF A PEG WITH TWO BIG ROUND HOLES IN THE TOP THEY DON;T LOOK LIKE IMS'S OR HVA'S ANY BODY KNOW WHO'S THEY MITE BE??????

Kelly

The HVA rear brake lever is a good investment, it's always nice to find the brake lever when you need it:)

Troy ill check my 87 pegs v my spare 84's and let you know tomorrow.

thanks. I got the welder, cutoff saw and some flatbar out last night and built a better rear brake lever. These bikes are funny as you can backyard build parts for them and they look correct :D

thats probably not that much different than how it was done in the first place! the toe on brake lever was pretty sad on all the twin shockers

Yeah, the fold the metal end up and cut some teeth in it was a little crude for sure. Mine is only slightly better :>) I'm guessing this bike gets a disk brake conversion if it stays with me for any length of time. I've already been eyeing the disk brake conventional fork KX500 front end I have laying here...

Motosportz, what are you using for a headlight? I am looking for something that will allow the stock speedo to be mounted behind it.
