• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Vinduro kicking it well on the XR!

Mediocre ride. I am not at my best in sand whoops and palmetto roots. Oh, It is a modified CRF230F not a XR. I just put XR stickers on the bike. I finished the event only to submerge my bike on the powerline on the way back to camp. I hit something in the mud rut , went sideways and off into the marsh. I got the bike going and when i removed the side cover a couple quarts of water came out. My air filter was more than half buried in the water. I had Maxima air filter oil on my Uni filter. Glad I did. Other than sucking a minimal of water I replaced the air filter and it ran fine afterwards. :applause:
I will not be at the Texas event as I have a AHRMA 2 day ISDT Qualifier that same weekend. I will be on a 1973Ossa SDR 250, Don Cutler Replica.
I am looking forward to the NATRA , West Point , Tn. event. I doubt I make Missouri as my club has an enduro scheduled same day down in South Central La. I am entered but still doubt I make it. I like riding in Park Hills, Mo.

Funny you say that.......I did the same thing!
Right were tha powerlines passed a large facility (turns out to be a waste water treatment facility:thumbsdown::foul::rant:......explains the nice aroma my gear had until I hit a laundrymat )

I at least managed to hit the switch off just as the forks began their "titanic-like" death plunge into what was a 4 foot drop off!

Air filiter was well oiled too and undoubtedly prevented much water from coming in. Had the bike running with minimal fuss and then went right up the middle to get home. Husky powered through and passed many many guys who were imobile. It looked like the Iraqi Republican Guard on a convoy! There was so much carnage going on.
A note to others....this was on the transfer section back to the pits after the race was over!
50 foot of ribbon at each side of the 4 foot deep streams would have prevented this. All there was was one Golden age very frustrated DDR club member there trying his best. Lesson learned for all those putting on even a organized trail ride. Graphic control measures (tape, arrows, etc. are your friend....work all day and don't need to be fed or supervised)

Just so you're not grossed out so much, it's not a waste water treatment facility. It's just a landfill and isn't the reason the water smells bad. That black stagnant water smells bad all over florida. I'm sure it's related to why their tap water tastes awful.

BTW, same thing happened to me headed back to the pits. Dumb route

So Dwight, can you give us an idea of how the 230 is working out? I was following your build of it over at TT. Very insterested in how it rides.

It is really not that bad at all. Lots of torque. Adequate power. Suspension is surprisingly good for anything but sand whoops. Loves tight woods and hills. AND NO RADIATORS TO DAMAGE !
Just wish it had a kickstarter.

That sounds like my kind of bike! The kickstart would be nice. Glad it worked out. I would like to see some pics of the finished product if you have any. If you have a link to some, you can just PM me.

Take care.

Has the estart not been reliable? What about the conversion kits to build one of these you mentioned early in the process? Thanks.

The conversion kit for the rear disc is for the most part cost prohibitive. Would be about $800.

Estart for the most part has been reliable but I would rather 10-15lbs less weight as they are easy starters. My XR200R is a very easy kickstart.

Lots of Honda cr125s laying around cheap. I wonder if that motor would fit in that frame? Even the steel would be a great chassis. Hmmmmm.
