  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Darn it all, I need some major help.

plastic straw with duct tape on the end- first faced doun so it sticks to the straw then rolled backwards so the sticky side is facing out. for fishing out-

I like the vacuum idea. That grabber tool might be narrow enough to fit in the plug hole, but when it grabs the pen chunk, it will widen out, I believe enough to not be able to come back through.

Okay I need "Ya I've done that before, this is what I did" help. Being lazy and knowing better, I dropped a pen (writing) down the plug hole to watch for TDC. Rotated wheel, *snap* :censored:. Pulled pen out with lower inch still in cylinder.

Okay get it out of your system.......

I have tried wooden rod with gum, Wire. I can see it, it is a whole piece. Okay When all else has failed and it is time to removve the head, what is envolved? I have never done this before, on a bike. I am going to try to get away with this as cheap as possible, so what has to be replaced, what can slide by this time?

I really need some help guys/gals, I'm running out of ideas.

 I have no advice whatsoever, but I am enjoying this thread immensely:) I feel for you, as we've all been there, and I think your sense of humor will carry you far  Good luck, and be sure to let us know how you get it out:)

:popcorn:It makes me laugh quietly to myself since I have taped, glued, tweezed, magneted, blown and tried vacuuming parts out of dumb places on motorcycles over the years.

I can completely see how this would happen. I used a chopstick for TDC and it did the ole snaparoo too. Luckily, it didn't break in half. I like the drinking straw idea, however on my next check I'm going to use the marks and look at the lobes' position. Wasn't near as complicated as I though it would be.

Have been flying past couple of days so I haven't had time to keep plugging away at it. Tiping bike on it's side, vacume, are deffinatly on the top of my list for things to try next. silicon on a chopstick next in line. This is what I get for being in a hurry. Ya I know there are marks. But when I get in a hurry my brain shuts down. I have no doubt I will get it just gotta keep plugging away at it. Like I said something I knew better than to do.

heres one that happened to me..
building a blown pontiac 455 a few years ago,,while assembling the last bit of linkage, a small washer dropped out of my pocket, and right down the intake into the super charger..a bunch of new swear words were invented,,,and guess what,,it was a copper washer to boot, part of the brake line from my truck.
so, i walked away for a while, and then tried every thing you can think of.,,not wanting to take this thing all apart.
im walking through Autozone, looking for one of the grabby things,,,and see a display of Gorilla tape...hmmmmmmm.
so i buy a grabby thing, and a bit of the tape...will the grabby thing wont get ahould of it.
so i straighten out a coat hanger, make a real small loop on the end, and glopper on a small bit of tape..
reeeaaall careful, i snake the hanger down, and just touch the washer, and it sticks, pull it out real slow, real careful, reminds me of that game Operation when we was kids...
and it comes loose....weeeew...
iv kept the tape for that reason...someday, ill need it again. careful it sticks to anything it touches.

i know a guy that did the same thing with a chop stick, now it is a running joke:lol: sorry. i suggest doing it right and pull apart the motor.

GOT IT.....them, after about an hour of pipe cleaners, wire, air compressor, airwand. I have got it all. Now I get to move forward with the rest of the pre spring maintance stuff. Thanks guys/gal for all the great ideas.

Whew, Ive been bitting my nails for days now. Can't imagine tearing apart a motor for an ink pen. Glad it worked out.

oldhuskychuck, That was a funny story,, I also played the operation game a few times. Know what you mean.
