• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

They give out penalty minutes for other weird stuff, would be nice to see Duprees get a couple minutes. Karma is a strange beast, and some long days are ahead, maybe some other riders will remember this...................

Ruffus - impression I got was Goncalves boosted Despres out of the mud, and Despres didn't look back - is that really what happened?

After all that. Goncalves had a crash about 800 meters from the end, jamming the chain or something & pushed his bike to the finish.

 
Read a little while ago that there's a protest against Goncalves.

Sadly I think it's because of his finish in the video. No outside assistance allowed & those two helping push may very well be spectators.

  • 19:07 Bikes: Barreda Bort rounds off the day’s podium

    The young Spaniard riding a Husqvarna bike has once again put in one of the day’s best performances by finishing third in the special behind the official KTM bikes. He finished 8’28” behind the day’s winner. In fourth place, Portuguese rider Helder Rodrigues displayed his consistency just like his countryman Paulo Goncalves, finishing 11’44” and 15’12” behind respectively. Sixth place goes to Norwegian Pal Anders Ullevalseter, 15’43” behind. In the general standings behind the leading pair, Helder Rodrigues trails by 59’19” whilst Paulo Goncalves is 1:25’57” behind. David Casteu is losing his foothold in the Top 10: he is still stopped on the special stage at present, with serious engine problems.

Peterhansel drove through a water crossing that a bike was stuck in, almost across, and clipped the rider, who was off his bike, in the back. He didn't even stop to say sorry. Total disregard for the rider's safety. I hope he gets penalized two hours or DSQ'd for that. That's seriously wrong.

    The young Spaniard has confirmed the fine impression he has made since the start of the Dakar 2012 by winning the day’s special with a time of 4:18’43”. He beat his countryman Marc Coma by 1’32” and Frenchman Cyril Despres by 3’39”. The gap between the leaders in the general standings has shrunk, with only 21” between leader Despres and Coma in second place.
