  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Crf Rekluse on X-Lite

When I phoned Rekluse to tell them that their clutch for my 09 txc 450 worked in my 630, they told my to mind my own business. Just thought you would like to know I said.
Point is there are lots of things that can work from bike to bike. I use Husky wheels on my Beta and a CRF rear sprocket fits my Beta rear wheel. Never know what will work until you try.

I can buy online the CRF EXP 3.0 for 400 $ in EE.UU, unpackage it and send to Spain without taxes, because is a small and ordinary post. The Core EXP cost 950 euros in Europe, 1.300 $$$ at change.
An used TE 250 6 speed gearbox costs 400$$, in perfect condition. This is another option, but I like the TC gearbox for racing, only need a "anti-stall" protection, because a 4 stroke with carburator and quickstart, when is very hot and stall is too hard to start.

Rekluse has become big and don't care at all about the "odd" bikes and do the very main stream ones. Good biz for them so it is what it is. I think there are a lot of models they don't cover but could. Try it out, good chance you can make it work.

I do get that - I mean, you go where the numbers are. As they got bigger, I assume the desire to be part of the "scene" as opposed to just an industry manufacturer probably declines daily. I have always had great interaction with them and even tried to pursuade them to push out a 449/511 version. They were aware there was a small BMW group too - but their simple answer was "the numbers just are not there for us - we go after the low hanging fruit".

It all comes down to money at some point.

If I had more time, I would to re market simple retrofits - but those niche markets will be hard sells and sitting on $500 per unit inventory is a tough business model for a hobby shop.
