  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

CRF oil filter in 2010 Te250

I get my Hi Flo (HF) 116's from my local Cycle Gear store for about 4 bucks. I've compared the to them K&N 116's from the same store and they're identical in virtually every respect... except price. The K&N's are 2 bucks more. When we had the Honda CRF 250R, I bought ONE filter from the dealer at 9 bucks and then got smart and started looking elsewhere.

Well what do ya know?
Went out to the garage to check it out. My Aprilia and my 08 TE250 both use the HF154 and my CRF150 and my 2010 TXC250 both use the HF116.
4 bikes, 2 filters. Not too bad, and I run Motorex 10/50 full Synth in all of them.

I am going to check out what kind of price I can get Hiflo for. I have a friend with a Honda dealership so I am getting close to cost is the only reason I am running Honda's.

That is a pretty good deal Darkside, my wife has a '04 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 and I have a '05 Chevy Silverado 5.3 and both take different oil filters, go figure.

Just a note for the European owners... if you use anything other than a genuine Husqvarna filter then you automatically invalidate your Husqvarna warranty.

Personally unless a filter is specifically listed by the manufacturer as applicable for a particular model, I wouldn't use it anyway - for example the Honda filter although it fits may be designed for a bike that runs at higher or lower oil pressure and you can't tell that from just looking.

Filters are cheap in comparison to an engine rebuild...

Dave is the HF 116 not the correct oil filter for the 2010 TC 250? I just want to get the correct filter. Thanks, John

I believe your '08 250 should use the HF563, not the HF154. The HF154 is for model years up to 2007. It'll fit in an '08, but supposedly Husqvarna changed the oil pump and the new filter is required as a result.

I thought I read something about that. It figures. Not only do I have a dozen of the HF154's sitting in my garage, but the HF563's cost a lot more.

Does anybody know the difference between the two? wondering if it's safe to use the HF154's til they're gone.

Hey Darkside; the Motorex is top shelf stuff and comparatively expensive. If you change your oil regularly you are probably not getting the benefit of the extra (more expensive) addative package. Have you considered using a slightly cheaper brand such as Motul/Maxima/Bel Ray.

Without getting into another oil thread, basically I want a REAL synthetic oil. Not just a modified petroleum base that can legally be called synthetic. the only brands that I am sure are synthetic are Motorex and Amsoil. Yes, Motorex is pricey. But I usually buy in bulk when it's on sale. I get 4 liter jugs for $45.

Interesting, since the 3 shops in the USA that I consulted before using the HF 116 all said they were using the same thing for the 2010's. :excuseme:
