• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Crash pads ?

mandolin

Husqvarna
AA Class
Does anyone has them?ke6101.jpg

i was looking today at the frame structure ...it might be ok here:
just enough to save the engine and some plastics.

Any opinions?

Get a skidplate, even the Hyde plastic skidplate will save the engine covers, ask me how I know.

I've got SME axle sliders, homemade peg sliders, the passenger pegs and the Hyde plate.

With the frame being so narrow, and the radiator shrouds being so wide, you'd need some pretty big crash pegs to keep them entirely off the ground, but the handguards have done a pretty good job of it, at least in my case.

You are looking at two different things here-

The footpeg, axle and bar sliders are there mainly to prevent damage to the track- many track owners wont let you ride without them. The fact that they can protect parts of the bike, or make it more likely to slide instead of tumble of a bonus.

Crash knobs or mushrooms are designed with the second purpose in mind- to minimize damage to the bike.
There is a downside- if you have a narrow frame that was never going to hit the ground anyway, and you try to protect the engine with long crash knobs, the extra leverage can cause the damage to go to the frame instead. Better to scrunch up so engine covers than to bend a frame.

Look for small, but strategically placed case protection.

never realy think about that.Good point.
Give an example for a strategic place to put protection to :)

The parts that are covered by a skid plate

And you'd be surprised at how good at saving exhaust and plastics the stock passenger pegs are.

I agree with keeping the passenger pegs on, they keep the bike from getting damaged during a slide.

I bought an exhaust slider from here to protect my exhuast.

When I had a highside my radiator cracked which made my bike unrideable. A kurva eletbe!

If you get some radiator braces that will help them from getting damaged. I bought them from here:

I bought the same braces, but can't get them to clear my rad hoses, any tips?
I had them installed by GP motorcycles, I remember them mentioning a mod they did to clear the hoses...I believe it was shifting the fan slightly.

I can try and take a picture tonight and see what is going on...

Here is the picture. Looks like the fan was shifted up

Yes the hose at the valve cover area pinched almost flat, worse on the left side.
appreciate the reply.

RDTCU I'm looking to firm up my newly acquired SMS...

Since the SME sliders are NLA, can you suggest a nice set?

What pegs are you using? I like the pegs/peg sliders on the Toxic site.

I think I'll invest in the Hyde plate - looks cool and will cover the light scratches already on the bike.

Lastly - what hand guards are you using? I like the specs on the Hyde set, but kinda pricey and don't care for the covers - will probably just run guards not the covers.

Thanks!

Ross Sheffer on here was selling SME style sliders since they're out of production.
I've still got factory pegs, just added my own delrin sliders.
I've got some MSR/Zeta handguards, you'll need the curved 'evo' bar clamps to get around cables and brake lines if you use the bar clamp models. I wouldn't mind some HDB guards but they're pricey.

Thanks! I just ordered from Ross. Which brand are you using up front? Also, my stock pegs have the rubber covers - did you just pull those off and add the Delrin sliders? If so, where can I get those? Thanks much!
