  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Washed bike today & noticed this!image.jpg image.jpg

I'd noticed it probably the last 6-12 months but just thought it was paint cracking/rusting along weld(dead giveaway really!). After washing noticed it was dislodged & could see light through the crack. Time to remove engine I guess!

Bound to happen after 315+ hours of logs & rocks.

The beauty of CrMo, wonderful life cycles of flexibility with the added bonus to weld it quite easily when the fatigue life catches up to certain components.
My advice and I'm sure you are already there is- Just give 'er the good close up inspection at all the critical stress points (for safety) like the steering head area etc. After all she is a well ridden, hardcore 8 year old off road motorbike.

Yeah I'll pull engine sometime in next few weeks & check it all out. Headstem due a grease & new swingarm & shock bearings so will check it all out!

Ahh I cheaped out & got local fabricator to weld her up with engine in situ. $20 & he did a bloody good job. Got him to chuck a bit of weld on opposite side just to be sure. Couldn't be arsed pulling engine tbh so now I can just do another top end then ride on!image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
Don't mind the cold gal sprayed on there. She's an oldie so doesn't need to look 100% plus bashy covers it! Bottom frame rails have flattened out a little!!!

Well a year later & also had to weld front engine mounts up then noticed this the other day after a bit of a get off on a slippery log. Pipe got a bit banged up too!

Nearly time to retire the old girl I think

Poor old speedo gave up the ghost after 165hr/5500km. Not bad I guess. Think it got cracked LCD from crash?

Hell yeah man got me money's worth. $9700AUD ride away 8 years ago for 375ish hours I'm more than happy. Hoping she'll go to 500 hours without splitting cases. I'm at the stage where if she blows then so be it.

2019 GG EC250/300 here in October. Gone off the Beta's somewhat due to suspension & physical size of them/ergos.

PS that's the 3rd-4th speedo it's had! :)
