  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc CR WR 144 year changes?

What years did the CR and WR 125-144 get the closed chamber forks? They got the new frame in 2010 right? Did the CR get the forks a year early? I have 2 YZ 125s I would sell to get a good CR 144 but want to know what years to look for.

The CR has CC forks back to 09. In 09 they are Zoch's. I believe they are the KYB's after that. But you need to check to make sure for the '10s.

The new frame came out in 2009, for 2010 they updated the top engine mount, foot peg area, and rotated the res. on the shock so it didn't hit the exhaust. As far as forks go...

2009 CR/WR came with the closed chamber forks, the specs on the WR said it was supposed to have the open chambers and if I remember correctly a few bikes made it to the states with the open chambers but not many.

2010 CR came with the closed chamber KYB's and the WR came with open chamber KYB's.

Later,

Yeah, when I had the ones off my 2010 TC revalved my suspension guy said they were identical to the SSS stuff from the 2007 Yamaha's.

Later,
I'm glad to hear that, I really like the forks on my 05 and 08 YZ125s. My 08 has been revalved and they are killer.
