  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi guys! I use my husky for mainly Enduro/xc in scotland and to be honest im still trying to find the ideal sprocket setup. i currently have a 13 - 52 setup and im gona try racing with a 53 rear this weekend. What setup you guys using? any feedback would be great!!

This may sound exteme and I've been questioned on this forum for doing it... but I ran a 12/52 on my 2012 CR 150 and thought it was great. The bike was a tractor, but still had plenty of balls up top. I think the same setup on the neutered WR 125/150 would probably be a little much for the weaker WR motor to handle at WOT.

I used 13/52 when my bike was a CR125 and liked it for Michigan singletrack. Now, I'm running 13/50 with my bike as a WB165.

13/52 in 125 trim with my 08 CR and 13/50 with the 144 and WB165. I can take off in 2nd gear and just crawl away in 165 trim. I think if I did real tight stuff I would give the 12/52 a try for 125 trim.

13-52 for me on my CR125, I have posted a few video's of what it will climb with that gearing. I should dig one out. I need new videos, being hurt sucks... Here is one I don't think I have posted, it is long and the lighting sucks but this trail is very technical. I am following my friend James, he rode in the last man standing aka the David Knight show both years they had it. He is on a KTM300.

Holy Crap ****************************************! that was like Warp Speed even over the rocks.

I really like the track.

a bit what you can find in Cambodia but than the vegetation is more tropic.

back to the main topic.

I ride a WR 125 (stock) soon to be WB 165

I started with 12/50 and changed to 13/52

I do like the last a bit better

it still is OK with the technical stuff and does a bit better on the more open stuff, more convenient related to speed over the obstacles that I face

I now bought new sets of sprockets (anticipating on WB 165), I bought 13/49 and 14/51

Cheers guys, im gona stick with 13-53 for day 1 and if i still have a bit energy left i might change it over to 12-52 for day 2!

Scothusky if you go with the 13-53, post how you liked it in race conditions, I am curious to see how it was:).

I liked the 13/52 that I ran this weekend at the Sawmill Enduro in Northern California. There were some times that I had to slip the clutch but it was mainly due to periodic brain farts on steep rocky hillclimbs. I do like the gear spread better. What was cool was that the bike never stuttered in the toughest conditions. I even stopped once on a vertical rocky switchback turn, kicked it into first and it just ripped up the hill. It must be love. :D

Well the 13/53 gearing was better also with the pv adjusted all the way so it was feeling nice and sharp but i think i will back the pv off slightly so the bolt is in middle of slot and will try the 12/52 setup. still felt the gearing was still a bit tall in the slower tight stuff through the woods.

Let us know how it works:cheers:!

Friend tries to use 14/52
you will gain more high .. good and the bike is locked in place ...
here in Brazil using the relationship 12/52 for motocross, because I need enough boot to recovery
and the relationship 14/52 in enduros
the bike is faster and less reduced ...

goes from me to you who want to use in enduro has no relation to the best wr 125

I suppose it just depends on the nature of the course. the first couple 3hr xc races i done this year i used 12/49 and that was fine due to the track being 2nd & 3rd gear flowing and wide open on the mx section but the enduro tests here in scotland tend to be very tight and i have found with the 13/53 setup pulling out tight turns in 2nd gear just wasnt happening even slipping the clutch. the past few years iv raced a 250f & 200xc so bottom end grunt was never an issue. im mearly just just trying to find a perfect setup for my style otherwise the bike is awesome! :)
