  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Could an '11 TE 250 suite me?

Did my first Enduro "practice" with a riding buddy today. This bike seems to make me about 40% faster. Its completely amazing how I can throw this bike into corners and lay it in compared to the 450.

Unfortunately my head got a little too big.

I lay'ed it in a bit too much. Did this-

cause this little bastard wouldn't move!

The plastic didn't bend but shattered! Hope to find 11 plastic in stock somewhere soon.

Not positive but you might be able to get some of the plastic in the special parts catalog.

This thread has been very encouraging, even the tree attack :) glad no one got injured. I'm heading to the dealer on Saturday to hopefully pick up a new 2011 TE 250. My name is Laura and I started riding about a year and a half ago. Female, 160#'s 5'9". The deals are great this time of year and they will take my KLX 250 in on trade. The only crappy thing is the cold weather is upon us and riding season is pretty much over, but at least next spring I will have my new toy ready to have some fun. I can't wait to test it out though. A friend let me ride his '08 TE 250 and it blew the shrouds off my KLX in terms of handling/power etc. The weight and street legal are the top reasons for wanting the this bike. So glad this site is available. The community seems very enviting and I'm interested in learning all about my bike and sharing stories/experiences. Can't wait for Saturday....... Take care for now

Welcome to our world Laura. Whereabouts are you located?

Welcome to CH Laura. The 11 TE 250 will be a big step up again fron the 08 too. Might blow some more shrouds off. Good luch with your Saturday's purchase!

After only 300 miles I have to say my 2011 TE250 is everything those hear have said. I took it out to the Husky monument north of Barstow last weekend, did about 150 miles of deep sand, whoops, dry lake beds, the works and even with the stock Karoo's it handled everything well. My bike came un-corked from the dealer. They had pulled the CAT and the throttle stop and put the 50t rear on. I pulled the silly canister off too. Did a first oil change at about 70 miles, trimmed up the rear fender thing and put some smaller turn indicator lights on. I am going to get some good handguards (HDB maybe?) and then I am about done. Like the bike alot. I wanted the 310 but they were as good on the price.

Hey guys,
Picked up my 2011 TE 250 today from the Dealer and we put on the large sprocket and chain since our private trail is mostly slower speed with lots of tight turns. Overall it's amazing compared to the KLX, but I'm having trouble with the low end stalling (that a lot of people have talked about). I started a new conversation about this so hopefully I can get this problem fixed easily. People talk about that JD power Kit and I'm going to do some research on it. I need to put some better tires on the bike and do the suspension, but that'll probably be next year since I just spent a whack load of cash right before Xmas. I've already done some minour cosmetic damage to the plastic and leaned the bike into a thick branch that snapped off the top of the KEY**************************************** go figure. Being on my tippy toes with a stubborn low end issue is not easy. I will be pretty happy to get this problem fixed since my clutch hand was way worked today. If this problem was a non issue, then I'd have nothing bad to say about my new bike.. Lets hope we can make my TE better for next year's riding season because I want to show those boys how a girl rides a Husky!!!

Laura, my 2011 TE 250 is two weeks old too. I have about 6 hours on it already, and seriously like it. So far i have put on a 52 rear sprocket which really helps the low end power, as well as the JD jetting tuner. The tuner is worth every penny. Don't hesitate, buy it. Your stalling will be gone, throttle response is amazing. I am in Winnipeg, Canada and rode yesterday at -6 celcius, damp. I ran more fuel on onethe accelerator pump circuit, , and man that bike hits decent. We run studded tires, as we had about 6 inches of fresh snow to contend with. Almost too hard hitting with the jetting tuned and the 52 rear sprocket. The last year and a half i have been on a 2010 TC 250. So far the TE seems better due to the electric start, and suspension. Now i still have more doodads to remove, signal mount on the bars, etc. How does one know if the throtte stop has been removed.

Congrats on the new bike, Laura! The Husky 250s are perfect for ladies like us that want a light and nimble four stroke that actually has power! I just envy your 5'9" height...I'm 5'6". I had to cut a ton of foam out of the seat and that made a world of difference in the technical stuff. Definitely get the JD tuner...it is a tiny investment that will make a world of difference! I struggled with the stalling too, and once I got the right settings in the tuner (thanks Ioneater), the bike has been amazing. I also put the Rekluse Core in mine, which also helps quite a bit with stalling caused by the rider.

Thanks Pheonix :) So glad to hear another Gal loves her TE 250. Yeah the seat hight is high even for my 5'9" height. I'm so used the the old KLX comfy seat, that I'm going to leave my seat as is for now and not shave anything off. Did you do anything to your suspension? The dealer suggested lowering mine by redoing the springs, shocks but can cost over $300. I'll be putting on some better tires next year too. The stock tires are fine for some dry conditions, but mud and hills no way. Thanks for recommending the JD Powersurge. My boyfriend ordered it today as an early Christmas gift. He wants to make sure this bike is perfect before putting it away for the winter. I'll have to look for Ioneater's settings and go from there. What exactly does the Rekluse Core Clutch do? Seems pricey, but you seem to think it's a good buy. Thanks again,

Hey d251man,
haven't had any snow in Milton Ontario yet, just rain. Hey if you can ride in -6 celcius and 6 inches of snow.. you can ride anywhere..LOL. Nice to know how easy the JD unit is and that you can adjust it on the go. Cant wait to try it out and get rid of the stalling issue. That's a good suggestion about the sprockets. I should go with the 52 on the back and 12 on the front like others have mentioned..but will try the JD unit first. Thanks again,

Laura

Here is a shot before I got her all Muddy

I wouldn't jump to a 12/ 52 sprocket combo right away. Try the 12 first if you need it. 12 / 52 makes all the gears very short lived IMO.

I'll never complain about December riding weather here in Southern California again........

Throttle stop-

If you twist the throttle and it barley rotates before it hits the stop(or seriously lacking in power), it's in. If you twist it and it rotates like any other bike like your 10 TC 250, it's probably out.

Otherwise, remove the Allen bolt holding the cover on the rt side of the throttle body where the cables go in, rotate the throttle til it stops. If it stops against a metal tabed piece with 2 screws holding it in, that the restrictor stop. If it stops against a set screw with nut on the bottom, it's out.

So, we now have the JD kit installed and tuned to Ionator's settings (see below) thanks to Phoenix (Lauren) for posting them again. Had it out yesterday and noticed it was way better. The stalling is minimized for sure. I'm still getting used to the new bike so can't say I didn't stall it, but way less for sure. It still has the low end hesitation though. We ride a lot of tight stuff with rocks and tight turns around trees and I'm having trouble with the bike height and the mud.. but I'll get that fixed next year. The new tires will help greatly as well (christmas present). I notice the clutch engages almost at the very end of release. my old bike started to pull away a lot sooner. I'm wondering if I can set that somehow to engage sooner. Also, does anyone know the best way to quiet down the pipe? It's definitely a loud bike for a 250. My boyfriend's 450 isn't much louder... I'll leave the gearing to the stock Dirt ones for the dual sport riding. And maybe try the 12/52 next year as well..... Take care for now,

Laura

There's a little black plastic knob on the inside of the clutch lever. It adjusts this.

It you took out the spark arresstor then the bike will need richer jetting for sure.

everything is stock from the dealer except the JD tuner. This weekend is the Motorcycle show in Toronto but Husqvarna isn't going to be there. One last motorbike blast before ski season. Oh living in California would rock!!! Bike all year round and ski too.. :)
