  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi done Inglewood trail ride on weekend just past. Bike has motorex G48 hybrid-technology in cooling system. As the ride is slow up and down white rock hills, bike got hot. Air temp was around 30℃. Did request that the coolant should be change to liquid intelligence 115 ,when had bike serviced but the mechanic said coolant was fine and did not need to be replaced. So bike now has a oil leak below waterpump where wires go into motor as has either damaged a o-ring. Any ideas the bike is a 2011 te250. Does anyone use www.liquid intelligence 115 check it out use it in my wr360 good stuff.

Sorry website www.liquidintelligence115.com.au

Yes you should use coolant. Any decent brand will do. The story with coolant isn't as complex as oils. its sort of like Gatorade vs water, a lot of good marketing. Water is actually a great as a coolant as it has a massive thermal capacity, the reason "coolant" is better because it has additives like antifreeze, antiboil and corrosion inhibitors. Sorry I'm not much help on your leak problem but I can confidently say the type of coolant probably isn't the issue.

So I copied this from there web page :

"It’s hard to keep a modern dirt bike from overheating on tight trails or in steep rough country. Every time temperatures climb beyond the normal range, the engine is running in the danger zone. Liquid Intelligence 115 Waterless Total Fill Coolant is guaranteed to prevent the engine overheating even under the most adverse running conditions."

This liquid intelligence is a bunch of crap. How does a bike not over heat going up a 30% grade for 2 miles at 6mph with a 6mph tail wind ?

Well had trouble with wr360 boiling all the time, so asked jdk motorcycle wreckers about thermo fans. Was informed to use liquid intelligence 115 as a coolant. Gave it a go and it fixed the problem. So I am a great believer in the product. It costs about $40 a litre, just use the liquid intelligence straight do not add water. Will be putting it in my te and crf as soon as I get some more . So give it a go. Sorry Rearwheelin try it before you knock it brother.

Thanks. Same price as Evans. XF is 13.50 a liter. Rearwheelin does use it actually, just a different brand. :)

I use them bothe , a good friend gave a gallon to me along with the red and white stuff :) Evans and it's copies keep better contact with the metal and that's better heat transfer at the cylinder .

I am going the other way. The Evans and similar waterless products are nice, won't boil and all that, but they have less cooling ability and consequently will keep the engine temp hotter at high loads. What I am looking for is a cooler engine at high load. The boiling is not much of an issue since I have rad overflow tank and the sound lets me know when the engine is too hot. Water has a better thermal capacity (read cooling ability) than the evans, in fact it is the highest of anything that will go in a rad. My present elixir is 75% water to maximize cooling, 24% honda type II coolant (good ethylene glycol based coolant) for freeze protection and 1% superlube coolant additive (like water wetter but works better with EG coolants) to reduce the surface tension. As soon as it gets hot here I will know how well it works. Cam.

The Evans works better the hotter your bike becomes. It won't flash steam at the cylinder sleeve where the high heat is. If your coolant goes in the top end at 180 and comes out at 220 how hot is the sleeve ? Hot enough to make steem bubbles ?

Yes that is the key feature of the Evans and at high temp it will work better since you don't get the insulating effect of the vapour bubbles on the cylinder surface reducing heat transfer. I am trying to prevent it from getting that hot using a media that conducts heat better (higher thermal conductivity), hopefully to avoid boiling. If I still get to the boiling point then I am no better off. My usual EG coolant boils at 236F at atmospheric. Not sure what it is under pressure of the rad cap. My new coolant will have a lower boiling point (less EG) but test data shows that it is more efficient and doesn't get there. We will see. Cam.

There is a half pound less wieght in the 511's cylinder vs. the 449's . The coolant will get away quick on the 511 because of the thinner sleeve is my thinking and it's really hard on conventional coolant. On my Honda 450r conventional is fine.
