• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Cool new Kenda Trails / dirt tire coming.

2 totally different spectrum's. The Kenda is for hard pack and slick rocky roots etc. Not designed for deep sand at all. They are really popular already out East where the tight knar is.

Where is it that it says it is for the deep sand only. When they showed the guy doing the Dakar Rallie they do not say he is on that tire, only that he has done that race The video shows the guy riding on a few different types of terrain Plus if you are talking about the Vegas to Reno race there is very little soft sand I have done that race 13 times

In all honesty I still need to test the 787. I'm thinking trials tire here and it's super sticky not a stiff carcass tire at all.

So many options to pick from. At least everyone loves the Golden 216aa fatty front tire

That's just it. I'm hoping the 787 will match the grip of the 216 fatty, at least for the conditions I ride here. Roots rock hard pack but if it rains....Slimey clay and slick rock/roots.

When comparing apples to apples, this tire should be compared to the GT257, which is the same thing -- a hybrid trials/enduro tire.

The GT257 is my wet season tire of choice on the 2T trail bike, for now. During the dry season I'm running the other hybrid trials/enduro tire, MotoZ Mountain Hybrid. And I can say that I like it just slightly over the MT43. It's virtually the same as the MT43, but has more side grip. And it makes a cool growl sound when you hit the rear breaks on a rocky downhill. :D I'll definitely try the Kenda hybrid when the MotoZ wears out.

Mounted the 787 with the tubliss setup this evening. Easy tire to mount since it's really soft. No drama mounting. Also mounted a new fat tire since the one on there has nearly 2k miles on it. Another easy mount. Riding the Super Tenere tomorrow but hope to get some time on the new rubber next Wednesday afternoon. More to come.

Sounds like the Equilibrium is available and for sale, but I haven't seen any ride reports. Has anyone tried it?

Jeff

I have one installed with 3 rides on it so far. Very good on the slick rock hard pack I rode in Arkansas. It sticks like velcro and is quiet on pavement. Very little wear after 350 miles so far. I'm running tubliss at 12 pounds. It's very soft sidewall and overall construction makes me wonder on longterm durability though. I will be riding sand and mud next weekend and will give a totally different perspective so I'll report back. So far I'm very very pleased.

One thing I can add regarding tire performance. On gravel roads I usually like to hit the rear brake to begin a sliding turn and use the throttle to power through once the rear brakes free but with the Equilibrium I couldn't get it to slide and It just rails the corners. Took me a while to trust it. Interested to see how it handles sand. Reviews say it's very good surprisingly so in sand.

I tried to find one of these last week for trip to Black Hills in a few days. Thought it would be a good choice but couldn't find one to buy anywhere. I saw them advertised in one of the moto mags, think they got a little ahead of themselves.....
