  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Cooked my top end on my 2012 WR300

Took for her first run this morning, feels crisp, checked the plug when i got home, black, will leave it a little rich for now. Starting easy enough, first or second kick. Haven't ordered a lectron yet, still playing with the mikuni, moved the needle to third clip position from the second and wound the air screw from 1.5 turns back to 1 turn. I installed the thinner base gasket as well.

The gay needle at # 3 is what my 300 was at when it seized. I even found online a race manual (can't find it now) that said for motocross put at #4, for sand #5. I ran mine at 5 for awhile in the dessert, then got the jd kit and never looked back.

He is on the JD kit, so the GAY needle settings are a bit apples to oranges.

I think that the JD red needle on the 3rd clip is good for cooler weather singletrack and the 2nd is good for warmer weather. If you're riding faster stuff, MX, sand, etc, it needs to be richer for sure. I don't know how much. You didn't say if you're still riding the dunes or if you're in the woods.
