• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Connecting rod to piston rod washers 1984 WR 400

Gentleman,
Still In the process of trying to start this beast, I have to check float level in the carb. (Smelled Fuel way to quickly. )
I have a question if anybody that has experience on the Husky WR 400 L/C can answer- the specific 1984 Husky WR parts manual in the pic diagram shows NO washer between the piston and connecting rod. The Parts listing for the piston assy and which I purchased from Halls came with piston, top end bearing circlips wrist pin and rings but NO washers. The parts list in the 1984 has washers 3 ea. Listed, I think it was item 93.
The old piston removed did not have washers either. Both old and new pistons were Mahle pistons.
Now I used the Husqvarna engine workshop manual to assemble and at the back of the page is shows 2 washers in the location. WTF??? The
Note in the assembly process shows to ensure washers are installed beteen connecting rod and piston? I assume this manual came after 1984 so does anyone have a verdict? Thank God Husky doesn’t build aircraft because no one would know what references to use!

Thanks Joe. I was on the FB left kickers forum and someone said they were supposed to be there. I didn’t think so either.
I owe you a Genesee on tap.

My experience in using the older Husky manuals is that the photos used to show examples of what they are talking about will sometimes be different models and even different years, which can make things confusing if I'm not paying attention. Not sure if that's the case with the 80's manuals.

My 84 400WR parts list doesn't have an item 93 but it does show qty of 3 #92 which are washers for the exhaust fasteners. I use the parts description instead of the exploded view when checking whether or not my project requires a certain part.
