  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey everyone,
I started a thread a while back about affordable lower fork tube coatings. Here are a couple pictures of my lower fork tubes.....$300 total! PM me if your interested and I will give you the contact info.

those are really nice. what kind of coating is it? do they offer different colors? how much do they add to the overall OD of the tube?

They only offer one multi color option, it's called a lasercut coating which is supposedly even better than TiNi and DLC. It adds nothing to the OD of the tube because it takes the place of the chrome coating (which is removed before this is applied). Peace.

The point is that they look really cool and stand out.....:). No really, the purpose of this or any other coating such as DLC ot TiNi is simply to provide a slicker/more slippery of a glide surface so that the forks will operate smoother without stiction (sp?). At least that is my take on the process....I may have just got hosed by simply paying for colored fork tubes but I don't think so. Peace.

Since Alabama has gotten into the automobile industry, there have been a lot of new shops setting up around B'ham. We have a guy that does coatings for big automotive presses. He rides & says he can coat fork lowers, counter & rear sprockets (says the coating will make them last longer), intake & exhaust valves. He's done my grease monkey's forks & they look great, fairly cheap too.

The coating is primarly for the reduction of stiction. This results in a smoother fork action and longer lasting seals etc. It also looks good.

Gonna love mine with the TTX cartridge insets AND the complete TTX rear Ohlins shock.......,:)

I bet**************************************** Good luck next year on that thing  Still got your pro card? Try some nationals again?

Thanks, I appreciate the comment! Yeah, still have my card. If Husky gets their homologation stuff squared away, yeah I plan to do 2-3 Nationals on my TC 250. I won't do them though if husky doesn't homologate, just too expensive to build a bike up for 2-3 races ( meaning put together a race quality Honda or Suzuki). Thanks again, let's hope I can try my hand at the Nationals again, bit aboard a Husky this time**************************************** Peace.

Ohh yeah, I just picked up a sweet motorhome. So you got a place to stay for the des Nations if you want. Should be a ton of fun, I can't wait.
