  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Clutch packs te511

A Class
I've resigned to trying a new clutch pack to see if my dragging issues subside as some users have reported. I'd rather not go with OEM because that's where I got into this pickle but I'm having trouble finding sources for aftermarket clutch parts.
Can anyone suggest suppliers of friction discs and plates that will fit the kymco engines? Are they all the same from 449/511/txc/TC/te/smr?

What oil do you use, is it light weight motorcycle oil?
5w40 or even 0w40?
Also, have you attempted reshimming the pack to the correct clearances.
The BMW G450X clutch shim kit is for the same clutch.

I've tried mc 5-40, 10-40, and Mobil 0-40. I R&R the clutch 2x and measured pack good in-spec. Bled back and forth many times. Replaced oring in slave. Have master rebuild kit on order but not installed yet. Tried to pull side cover to check shifter parts but requires pulling engine so I gave up and backed off.

I've read that new oem clutch pack helped. Not sure how, doesn't make sense, and it's a 300$ experiment I don't really wish to try, but it's about all I have left to do. First I will try the master rebuild. The bike sat for a few years so I suppose it's possible the master is only partially sealing but seems unlikely. The rear brake master was not working when I bought it and I had to massage the seals to get it pumping so maybe this is a similar deal? I dunno but it's getting pretty annoying.

Sounds like you have tried your best.
One silly question for you, do you have aftermarket levers that may not be giving full stroke at the master cylinder??
